    Charming eco-lodge, welcoming but pricey

I love the caring, friendly staff and phenomenal organic food - the brand-new, clean place feels like a cozy small condo/lodge on a beautiful farm with ponds, ducks and deer. The community is warm and inclusive (integrated with people with disabilities), welcomes small pets, and offers pottery, woodworking, weekly music and flexible snowbird/vacation plans. Staff are knowledgeable and eco-minded; one caveat is no Wi-Fi (wired internet only). Joke: lovely in every way - my wallet disagrees; it's extremely expensive and I don't think it's good value.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment from the review summaries is strongly positive, with repeated praise for the food, staffing, cleanliness, and the distinctive campus environment. Multiple reviewers emphasize "phenomenal" organic meals and very good food repeatedly, positioning dining as a clear strength. Staff are described as friendly, knowledgeable, caring, and welcoming — reviewers consistently note a warm welcome and great staff interaction. The facility itself is new and clean, and several comments highlight a small condo- or lodge-like vibe that makes the place feel intimate rather than institutional.

The physical setting is a standout theme. The community is located in a farm-like environment with ponds, ducks, trees, and deer, and the operation is described as environmentally conscious. That pastoral setting appears to be an important part of the appeal for reviewers who mention friends living there and being happy. The newness of the building combined with an eco-friendly approach seems to contribute to a positive impression of the premises.

Programming and lifestyle options are another recurrent positive. Reviewers cite on-site creative programming such as pottery and woodworking classes, regular weekly music, and tours for prospective residents or families. The place fosters a warm, inclusive community and is specifically noted as being integrated with people with disabilities — reviewers describe that inclusivity as a positive and a distinguishing feature "different in a good way than other places." The atmosphere is described as welcoming and nice, with many residents and visitors expressing happiness with the community.

Practical and policy-related positives include pet-friendliness for small animals and administrative flexibility for seasonal residents: reviewers note versatility in plans for snowbirds and vacation arrangements once a resident is "within their system." That suggests some adaptability in occupancy or leave-of-absence policies for those who travel seasonally, although the phrasing implies that the flexibility may apply after formal enrollment in their processes.

Notable negatives form a smaller but important thread. Several reviewers — or at least one strongly worded reviewer — call out the cost as "extremely expensive" and express a sense of poor value. This is the most explicit concern and could be a significant factor for prospective residents comparing costs among options. Another recurring practical drawback is limited internet connectivity: reviews mention no Wi‑Fi and only wired internet access, which could be an issue for residents or families who expect ubiquitous wireless connectivity.

There is also a note that at least one reviewer had a negative overall impression, even using the word "joke," though that voice appears isolated compared with the dominant positive commentary. That negative viewpoint, coupled with the cost concern, suggests potential variability in perceived value and expectations among different reviewers.

In summary, Camphill Ghent is presented in these reviews as a new, clean, and environmentally conscious senior living community with excellent organic dining, strong and caring staff, robust arts and music programming, and a pastoral farm setting that fosters a warm, inclusive residential atmosphere. Its small, lodge-like character and pet-friendly policies are additional draws. The main caveats are a reportedly high cost with some feeling of poor value and limited wireless internet access; a minority of reviewers reported a negative overall impression. Prospective residents should weigh the strong community, care, and lifestyle offerings against the financial cost and connectivity limitations when evaluating fit.
