    Attentive staff, clean facility, costly

I placed my parent here and overall I'm pleased - staff are attentive, the facility is clean, meals are good, and activities keep residents engaged. My main drawbacks are the high cost and sometimes unclear billing/communication, but I feel they're safe and well cared for.

    About Greenbriar Home For Adults

Greenbriar Home For Adults is a medium-sized licensed facility in New York with space for up to 37 residents who are at least 55 years old, and it's been around for about 35 years, so you'll find experienced staff on duty 24 hours a day, always ready to help. The home offers assisted living, respite care, hospice care, and memory care, with staff able to assist with daily activities like bathing, dressing, toileting, and moving between bed and wheelchair, and there's standby help for those who need transfers or have limited mobility, as long as residents can help themselves a little. Residents get a detailed care plan customized for them, and help is available for medicine management and monitoring diets, including special diets for conditions like diabetes or high blood pressure, though staff doesn't give insulin shots directly. The home handles housekeeping and laundry, so families and residents don't have to worry about those chores. Meals are homemade and served three times a day, and the dining room lets everyone eat together, with options for special dietary needs like allergy-friendly or diabetes-friendly foods.

Greenbriar Home For Adults tries to help residents stay active and social by planning daily activities, movie nights, music and arts programs, indoor group activities, and even outdoor trips, so there's always something to do, and residents can use spaces like a reading room, library, fitness room, hot tub, sauna, salon, and garden if they like. There's help for spiritual needs with devotional services, plus transportation is available for doctor appointments, errands, and religious services, and staff will make and arrange all doctor visits. Residents can bring their pets, and the building has wheelchair accessible showers, furnished rooms, common areas for socializing, and an emergency alert system for safety, with staff on alert day and night. The facility welcomes smokers in certain indoor areas and allows smoking in both private and public indoor spaces. Residents can have services like a mobile stylist, and those with memory loss can get the extra help they may need. Greenbriar offers programs that focus on keeping minds and bodies engaged and works to maintain a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere where people can feel at home. All care is supervised, with the right level of help available depending on each person's needs, and the staff speaks English. The facility covers most daily needs, including making sure everyone gets to doctor appointments, participates in community activities if desired, and stays as independent as possible, so residents can have peace of mind about their support and wellbeing.
