    Friendly caring staff, clean home

I toured and moved my dad in and I'm very pleased - the staff are friendly, caring and genuinely helpful, with hands-on owners and attentive nursing support. The building is clean, bright and homey with roomy private bathrooms, lovely gardens/patio and a great activities calendar (bingo, exercise, movie nights, piano, trips). Meals are excellent, amenities are impressive, and I feel confident recommending this as a safe, welcoming place.

    Summary of reviews

Mountain Valley Manor projects a generally positive, homelike environment with consistent praise for its caregiving staff, cleanliness, and grounds. Reviewers commonly describe staff as caring and helpful, with visible owner/operators and a strong front-office presence. The facility's physical environment is frequently characterized as bright, well-maintained, and comfortable—spacious private rooms, wheelchair-accessible bathrooms, attractive gardens and courtyards, and resident-accessible planters were noted as particular strengths.

Clinical supports and daily care are mixed but lean positive. Many families cited on-site medical coverage, an on-call physician, medication assistance from nursing staff, and accessible physical-therapy services. At the same time, a pattern of concerns about staffing consistency and certain aspects of clinical follow-through emerged; reviewers raised issues that suggest potential gaps in incontinence-care response and wound-prevention practices. Prospective residents and families should confirm current staffing levels and care-plan protocols during tours and care consultations.

Dining and activities are consistent selling points. Meals are described as appealing and generous; structured mealtimes and a policy allowing visitors to join meals were appreciated. The activity program is broad and active—regular offerings include bingo, piano/music, movies, exercise and yoga classes, arts and crafts, trivia, and group outings via bus. Social touches such as a large family room, Friday happy hours, library, puzzles, and frequent entertainment contribute to a communal atmosphere.

Amenities and ancillary services are generally good but show variability. The facility offers an on-site salon/beautician, laundry service, beautician visits, and housecleaning, and many families praised the convenience of these services. However, reviewers also noted intermittent availability of the hairdresser and occasional laundry issues, indicating that ancillary services can be inconsistent at times.

Management and family communication present mixed impressions. Several reviewers valued the hands-on presence of owner/operators and a family-oriented feel; others described uneven communication from clinical leadership and a more controlling communication style that affected family interactions. There were also criticisms about limited flexibility during infection-control periods and about the lack of remote-care options early in the pandemic, pointing to limited telemedicine capability. Financial transparency surfaced as a practical question for some families—clarity around extra charges for increased assistance should be confirmed before move-in.

Overall, Mountain Valley Manor appears to offer a clean, activity-rich, and value-oriented option with strong social and environmental amenities and an attentive caregiving staff. Families considering the facility should verify current staffing ratios, wound-prevention and incontinence-care procedures, the availability schedule for ancillary services, telemedicine options, and the fee structure for additional care to ensure alignment with the prospective resident’s clinical and personal needs.
