Long Island State Veterans Home

Long Island State Veterans Home has been serving veterans in Stony Brook, New York since 1991, offering a clean and well-maintained facility that focuses on the needs of former service members. The Home supports veterans with a wide range of care, from skilled nursing to short-term rehab after injuries or falls, and it helps veterans stay engaged with programs designed specially for those who've served in wars like WWII, the Korean War, and Vietnam. The staff, which includes doctors, nurses, therapists, pharmacists, and social workers, works together to deliver care that meets many different needs, whether it's end-of-life support, help with Alzheimer's or dementia, or respiratory care for illnesses like COVID-19. Residents can take part in recreation programs and enjoy Wi-Fi, good meal services, and activities that bring people together. There's space for up to 350 people in the Skilled Nursing Facility, and the Adult Day Health Care program can help up to 50 veterans continue living at home by supporting their health during the day with a medical model program designed for aging in place. The Home is part of the National Association of State Veterans Homes and provides a safe, respectful setting where military veterans can find specialized support and connect with others who know their experiences.
