    Beautiful place with caring staff

I placed my loved one here and couldn't be happier - it's a beautiful, well-appointed place with lovely gardens, comfortable rooms and inviting common areas. The staff are wonderful and caring (24/7 nurses, attentive leadership - Kristi & Diane), the food is surprisingly excellent (daily activities, culinary students and on-site vegetables), and communications are great. Minor issues: some wall cracks/maintenance and an admissions policy that wouldn't accept a blind relative, but overall it's spotless, well run, and I highly recommend it.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment: The reviews for Farrar Home are overwhelmingly positive, with multiple reviewers calling it a fantastic or ideal place for elderly residents. The dominant impression is of a high-quality assisted living facility that combines strong clinical support, a caring and communicative staff, attractive living spaces, and above-average dining and activities. Many reviewers explicitly state they would recommend the facility and describe it as the best among local elderly care homes.

Care quality and staffing: A recurring strength is the clinical and personal care provided. Reviewers specifically mention round-the-clock nursing coverage, qualified and dedicated staff, and hands-on assistance such as shower help. Staff are repeatedly described as wonderful, caring, understanding, and communicative; several reviews emphasize that residents are happier and well cared for. The activities coordinator is singled out by name as a particularly positive influence on daily life. Overall, the staffing theme is one of professionalism combined with warmth and responsiveness.

Dining and food services: Food quality is a notable highlight across reviews. Multiple reviewers call the food delicious and better than average. There are specific, positive details: culinary arts students sometimes prepare meals, and vegetables are grown on-site, contributing to freshness and variety. These elements reinforce the sense that dining is an elevated aspect of life at Farrar Home rather than merely utilitarian.

Activities and lifestyle: The community offers a diverse and active lifestyle. Reviewers note daily entertainment, varied activities, and special events (an upcoming Fourth of July celebration was cited). The combination of a proactive activities coordinator and regular programming appears to contribute strongly to resident satisfaction and the sense that the home is engaging rather than passive.

Facilities, cleanliness, and setting: Physical attributes are mostly praised. Many reviewers describe the facility as beautiful—a grand mansion with a modern wing—surrounded by gardens and offering plenty of space and pleasant common areas. Cable television and comfortable rooms are additional practical positives. Cleanliness is emphasized by many reviewers who call the home spotless. That said, a minority of comments raise concerns about maintenance and cosmetic issues—cracks in walls and areas where walls are in poor condition are mentioned—so while the overall cleanliness and upkeep are seen as excellent, there are isolated maintenance items that reviewers felt should be addressed.

Management and communication: Leadership and administration receive positive mention; two leaders (Kristi and Diane) are named and praised, and overall communications with staff are described as strong. This aligns with the frequent comments about good responsiveness and caring management, which reinforces confidence among family members and residents.

Notable concerns and patterns: The primary consistent concern in the reviews is an admissions-related issue: one reviewer reported that the facility would not admit a blind relative, suggesting that the admissions policy can be restrictive or inflexible for certain needs. While most other comments about cleanliness and maintenance are positive, a few reviewers flagged minor cleanliness issues or wall/maintenance problems—these appear to be limited in scope but worth noting. Several reviews also use the term "minor issues," indicating that small, non-critical problems occasionally occur. In sum, concerns are relatively limited and specific (admissions policy and some maintenance), and they do not overshadow the prevailing positive consensus about care, food, activities, staff, and the living environment.

Conclusion: Farrar Home emerges from these reviews as a strongly recommended assisted living option with standout strengths in round-the-clock clinical care, compassionate and communicative staff, excellent dining (including on-site garden produce and student culinary involvement), and a rich activity program. The setting and common areas are frequently praised, contributing to a residential feel that many reviewers describe as beautiful and comfortable. The main areas for leadership to consider are clarifying or revising admissions criteria to avoid excluding potential residents with sensory impairments, and addressing a few localized maintenance and cleanliness issues to match the otherwise high standard reported by most reviewers.
