    Beautiful caring community, highly recommend

I placed my mom at Brandywine and overall I couldn't be happier. The building is beautiful and spotless, feels home-like, and the staff are caring, attentive, and professional - great food, plenty of activities, and 24/7 nursing give our family real peace of mind. Move-in was smooth and communication reliable; residents seem engaged and safe. It's not cheap and there can be occasional staffing or management hiccups, but I still highly recommend it.

About Brandywine Huntington Terrace by Monarch

Brandywine Huntington Terrace by Monarch, located at 70 Pinelawn Road in Melville, NY, sits on a sprawling 12-acre campus with landscaped gardens, outdoor patios, and plenty of inviting spaces for residents to sit outside when the weather's nice, and you'll notice the grounds right away because they're well cared for and there's always a place to enjoy a bit of sunshine or fresh air, which is important when mobility is an issue or you just want to take a short stroll. The community offers independent living, assisted living, and memory care all in one place, so residents can adjust their care as needs change without having to move away, which is something families like, and this approach-aging in place-is often helpful when it comes to comfort and peace of mind.

Huntington Terrace features private and semi-private rooms, all with private bathrooms, and many have kitchenettes; rooms come furnished, and services like housekeeping and linen are provided so you don't have to worry about daily chores. Residents have choices when it comes to activities, and I mean there's a full calendar with things like onsite music programs, movie nights, day trips, and even resident-run groups and special events, so folks stay as active as they want and there's something nearly every day-you'll hear about a range of social, mental, and physical activities, even devotional programs, all aimed at keeping people engaged. The community's known for being friendly, with helpful staff who've got a reputation for kindness and joy, and families often mention how nice it is that the environment is vibrant and welcoming.

When it comes to food, the dining program is popular, and the meals-planned by chefs and meal coordinators-are served restaurant-style in a bright, busy dining room, with options for special diets including diabetic and other needs; in fact, dining services have been rated in the top 8% among similar places, which says something about attention to nutrition and taste. Huntington Terrace has common areas like a fitness room, small library, gaming room, wellness center, and plenty of indoor and outdoor spaces to gather, so it's easy to find a quiet spot or join friends for a game or a book. On the care side, there's a 24-hour call system, round-the-clock supervision for memory care and higher-need folks, and nursing staff on site for 12-16 hours out of every day, plus medical personnel like doctors, dentists, and podiatrists on call, and you'll find support for everything from medication management to help with bathing, dressing, transfers, and rehabilitation care when it's needed.

Memory care uses the Reflections program, which is designed for seniors with Alzheimer's or dementia, focusing on daily structure, memory-enhancing activities, and specialized support, and there's a strong focus on keeping residents safe and as independent as possible. Transportation is available for errands and medical appointments, and there's complimentary options for residents who don't drive, while resident parking is also available if you still have a car. The property is pet-friendly, has a beauty salon and barber services, and offers Wi-Fi, which helps folks stay connected with family; there's also scheduled respite care and hospice support for those who need either short-term or end-of-life services. Smoking isn't allowed indoors, and the showers are wheelchair accessible, which is something you want to ask about if mobility is a concern.

Nearby, you'll find places like Starbucks and Walgreens, adding a bit of convenience, and amenities are geared toward seniors who want different amounts of independence and assistance-whether it's maintenance-free living, help with daily activities, or more advanced medical needs, all under one roof, with home care aides, therapies like physical and occupational therapy, and a schedule that keeps folks busy if they want to be. The facility holds awards for Best of Senior Living and Best Activities in Senior Living, and it's operated by Monarch Communities as part of Brandywine Senior Living, a name people recognize for care and services in the area.
