    Lovely grounds, great therapy, staffing

I found the staff overwhelmingly caring, professional and family-like - the therapy team is excellent, administration is responsive, and the sunny gardens, patios and mountain views make it a lovely place. Many caregivers went above and beyond and family members I spoke with were grateful for the follow-up and support. That said, the facility seems chronically short-staffed: call bells are slow to be answered, showers and hygiene care can be inconsistent, meds and communications have been unreliable, and I noticed cleanliness and odor issues at times. Meals and phone/contact systems also need improvement. Overall: great therapy, wonderful frontline staff and beautiful grounds, but go in aware of staffing, cleanliness and communication problems.

About Robinson Terrace Rehabilitation and Nursing Center

Robinson Terrace Rehabilitation and Nursing Center sits over in Stamford, NY, right out in the Catskill Mountains, and has 120 beds for people who need skilled nursing and rehab services, and there's a good-sized staff, somewhere between 51 to 200 people, on duty to help take care of folks all through the day and night, keeping things running steady. They focus on long-term care and have lots of services for people who need skilled nursing and help from physical, occupational, and speech therapy, and you'll find restorative nursing programs and a big therapy gym for getting folks back on their feet. The care is person-centered, with unique care plans thrown together by a dedicated team who carry CPR training and can help with oxygen therapy, fluids, and IV antibiotic therapy, and if someone needs help with things like stroke recovery, wound-vac therapy, post-surgical orthopedic care, or diabetes management, there's always specialists for that. They work with long-term care insurance and try to support families with advice and guidance when it comes to caregiving, so no one's left guessing about what comes next.

The place looks after people with different needs, with services for dementia, bariatric care, hip and joint replacement recovery, amputee recovery, and regular wound care, and they get pharmacy, dental, podiatry, ophthalmology, and respiratory management coming straight to the room, with medication given on schedule and the staff using electronic medical records to keep track of everything. There's an innovative wander guard platform for safety, so people who might wander have extra protection, with alarms and alerts set up to prevent any confusion or accidents. Meals come from dining services where executive chefs shape menus for dietary needs, and they offer private and semi-private rooms, so there's a little choice in living arrangements, plus free cable TV and personal phone in each room, and folks have access to beautician and barber services and therapy recreation activities for keeping spirits up. If you like the newspaper or magazines, they have those, along with a 24-hour concierge for comfort, and a full-time physician usually around the place. Robinson Terrace clocks in at a 4.1 rating from 40 reviews, so some people appreciate what the center tries to do in a rural setting, and the staff keeps up nursing care, rehabilitation, and long-term services for folks when independent living is just not an option anymore.
