    Positive experience despite rude nurse

I had an overall positive experience - the move was seamless, the community is bright, beautiful and feels like home, staff are warm, attentive and professional, meals are healthy, meds are well managed, activities are engaging and calls are answered in under 2 minutes. My one major concern was a rude, money-driven lead nurse who gave poor follow-up and made troubling comments about dementia. Despite that, Braemar provided safety, high-quality memory-care options and genuine peace of mind.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in these reviews is predominantly positive, with multiple reviewers highlighting the facility's aesthetics, warm staff, responsive care, and a smooth transition process. Positive themes recur around the physical environment (described as bright, beautiful, and comfortable), the attentiveness and warmth of caregiving staff, timely responses to calls (noted as under two minutes), and the presence of amenities such as healthy meals, engaging activities, and robust medication management. Several reviewers explicitly said the community provided peace of mind for families and created a reassuring, at-home feeling for residents.

Staff and care quality emerge as the strongest assets. Many reviews emphasize that staff are approachable, genuine, and quick to respond, creating a supportive atmosphere for both residents and families. Reviewers referenced exceptional staff and professional, attentive care; memory care options were mentioned as available and of high quality. Medication management and a safe, clean environment were also cited repeatedly, indicating reliable clinical and custodial practices. Multiple accounts describe the move-in or transition process as smooth and seamless, with staff providing hands-on help and emotional reassurance during the changeover.

Facility features and programming are repeatedly praised. The community is described as bright and aesthetically pleasing, with top-notch amenities and services. Reviewers call out healthy dining and engaging activities as positives that contribute to resident well-being and quality of life. The physical setting, combined with programming and supportive staff, is presented as contributing to an overall comfortable, home-like experience.

However, there are notable and potentially serious concerns raised by some reviewers that contrast with the majority positive feedback. A lead nurse was described by some as rude and driven by money, and there are complaints about poor follow-up and inconsistent communication. One reviewer reported a nurse speaking ill of dementia, and others noted concerns about wellness monitoring. These criticisms suggest variability in staff behavior and communication practices; in at least some cases the experience was negative enough that reviewers characterized their overall experience unfavorably.

Taken together, the pattern is one of a facility that generally provides high-quality, compassionate care in an attractive, well-run environment, with several concrete strengths: fast response times, attentive staff, good clinical support (medication management), meaningful activities, and reassuring move-in support. At the same time, there are isolated but important negative reports around staff demeanor (particularly a lead nurse), follow-up/communication lapses, and attitudes toward dementia that merit attention. These issues could indicate inconsistent staff training or leadership gaps in communication and clinical culture.

For prospective residents and families, the reviews suggest Braemar at Montebello is likely to offer a positive day-to-day living experience for most, especially where the expectations are for warm, attentive care and an attractive, activity-rich environment. However, because of the reported variability, families should proactively address the noted concerns during tours and discussions: ask to meet nursing leadership, inquire about communication protocols and follow-up procedures, ask how dementia care is trained and supervised, and request references or opportunities to speak with current residents/families. Doing so can help confirm the consistently positive aspects reviewers described while clarifying how the facility prevents or addresses the negative behaviors and communication gaps that were reported.
