    Spotless home, attentive staff, excellent

I placed my mother here and it's been a blessing - the place is spotless, small and home-like, staff are kind, attentive and professional (nurses, CNAs, activities), and the cook-to-order meals are excellent. Private rooms, on-site therapy/rehab, easy access to pharmacy and ER, safe grounds and great communication have given our family real peace of mind.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the review summaries is broadly positive but with a notable and serious negative outlier. Many reviewers emphasize a clean, modern, and well-maintained facility that offers a small, community-oriented atmosphere. Multiple comments highlight private rooms with private baths where residents can bring some furniture, and common areas such as a bright dining room with mountain views, a gathering room, and an outdoor shaded courtyard. Amenities that receive repeated praise include seasonal barbecues, raised garden beds, an on-site barbershop, easy access to a pharmacy, and rehabilitation/physical therapy services located in the building. Practical conveniences such as transportation options and proximity to urgent care/ER are also called out positively.

Care quality and staff are frequent themes. Numerous reviewers describe staff as friendly, kind, welcoming, and caring. Nursing staff, CNAs, and therapy teams are often called out as excellent, and families report attentive, one-on-one interactions and staff who go out of their way to meet needs. Medication management and introductions to various departments are noted as positives, and several reviewers describe the facility as providing dignity, respect, and a home-like atmosphere. For families of residents with cognitive impairment, some reviewers specifically praise attentive care and strong family involvement, and several express that the facility brought peace of mind and comfort to their loved ones.

Dining and activities receive consistent praise. The dining room is described as pleasant and bright, with cook-to-order meals and dietary accommodations available; reviewers report lunches looking good and meals being delicious and healthy. The activities department is described as engaging and excellent, contributing to a sense of community and resident engagement. Outdoor and social programming such as seasonal barbecues and gardening opportunities are mentioned positively, reinforcing the facility's community feel.

Facilities and services support a positive resident experience for many families. The building is characterized as modern, safe, and comfortable. On-site rehabilitation and urgent medical care, as well as proximity to emergency services, add to a perception of safety and convenience. Reviewers also appreciate the ability to personalize rooms and the small size of the community, which some attribute to more individualized attention and a warmer, home-like environment.

However, a significant and serious negative pattern appears in at least one review and must be weighed carefully. That review alleges neglect, deception, extreme health decline (including a 55-pound weight loss), dehydration, and poor hygiene. Other reviewers explicitly state very poor management, which conflicts with several other reviews that praise management as excellent. This inconsistency points to variable experiences among residents and families — many report exemplary care, while at least one describes severe failures. The presence of these starkly different accounts is the most notable concern arising from the summaries: it suggests possible inconsistency in care practices, management responsiveness, or communication across different cases or time periods.

In summary, most reviews portray Elderwood Village at Ticonderoga as a clean, small, and community-focused facility with friendly staff, good amenities, strong rehabilitation services, engaging activities, and appealing dining. These attributes contribute to a sense of safety, dignity, and family confidence for many. At the same time, the existence of a very serious negative report alleging neglect and severe health deterioration — along with conflicting statements about management quality — is a major red flag that signals variability in resident experiences. Prospective residents and families should consider the generally positive consensus but also probe further into recent care quality, management practices, incident reporting, and oversight to ensure consistent, reliable care for their specific needs.

    About Elderwood Village at Ticonderoga

Elderwood Village at Ticonderoga sits at 101 Adirondack Dr Ste 201 in Ticonderoga, NY, and offers assisted living, memory care, independent living, skilled nursing, and respite care, all in a small and close-knit community with views of the Adirondack Mountains and well-kept grounds where residents can spend time outside or look out over the gardens and trees, which is really pleasant. The community has private and semi-private rooms, each with its own bathroom, sometimes with shared showers, and folks can use private dining rooms for family moments, so families can visit and celebrate when they want to. The staff gets described as helpful, joyful, and kind, who help with daily needs like bathing, dressing, medicine reminders, and meals, plus they offer weekly laundry, cleaning, and round-the-clock nursing supervision. Meals come in a restaurant-style setting, prepared with good ingredients for nutrition and enjoyment, while onsite barbershop and beautician services, free WiFi, and transportation help residents stay well-groomed and connected.

There are programs for physical, social, and spiritual health, and the activities include group outings, educational classes, wellness programs, and entertainment, so people can stay active and make friends, and those who like their faith can join regular devotional services. Residents with Alzheimer's and other types of dementia have memory care services called Secure Memory with special care plans, structured activities, and a monitored living space aimed at keeping them safe and engaged. The facility runs specialty programs too, like Right Moves, palliative care, respiratory therapy, outpatient physical therapy, and support for oncology patients, as part of the Elderwood care network, which also links residents with local hospitals and home health help if needed.

Licensed as a New York State adult home, Elderwood Village at Ticonderoga gives non-acute, long-term care at a lower cost than a nursing home, and folks can transition through various living options on the same campus, since it's part of the Medical Village of Ticonderoga, so they've got quick access to an emergency department, subacute care, a medical office, laboratory services, and outpatient rehabilitation. Folks get plenty of healthy food, high-speed internet, parking, and outings to local spots like parks, cafes, and pharmacies, which are all nearby, so daily living feels connected and less isolated. They've got staff openings too for CNAs, LPNs, and RNs, and family members or seniors themselves sometimes talk about the cozy and welcoming atmosphere that helps create a sense of peace for those who live there. The community gets good feedback, holding a 5.0 rating from one review, and offers both affordable housing and a sense of security for seniors wanting help with daily life, along with chances to keep busy, social, and healthy.
