    Neglectful filthy nursing home experience

I would not recommend this place. The administrator and office staff were unresponsive-calls ignored, no straight answers-and my husband never received promised rehab. The building was filthy, reeked of urine, had roaches, poor hygiene and no timely baths or responses; medical care felt negligent (untreated infections) and staffing was inadequate with overworked, unprofessional employees. Visitors were even told to leave and police called. A few staff (notably a caring dietary aide) showed genuine kindness, but overall I'm heartbroken by the neglect and would not put my family here.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment: The reviews of Heritage Hills Living & Rehab are predominantly negative, with multiple reviewers describing severe problems in care, cleanliness, communication, and management. While a minority of comments highlight positive individual staff interactions and a few improvements, the dominant themes are neglect, inadequate staffing, poor facility hygiene, and unresponsive leadership. The tone across the reviews is one of alarm and strong dissatisfaction, with several reviewers explicitly warning others not to place family members at this facility.

Care quality: Many reviews raise serious concerns about the quality of care residents receive. Specific complaints include residents not receiving expected rehabilitation, delayed or missed baths, slow responses to patient needs, and alleged medical negligence that in one report contributed to a finger infection and an asserted early death. There are multiple statements characterizing the care as neglectful or mistreatment, and reviewers report that complaints and reports of problems did not lead to visible improvements. At the same time, a few reviewers singled out individual caregivers who provided genuine care and kindness, indicating that positive caregiving exists but may be inconsistent and unevenly distributed.

Staff and staffing issues: Staffing problems are a recurring theme. Reviewers describe inadequate staffing levels and situations in which a single person must cover multiple roles, which contributes to delayed care and missed services. Several comments accuse staff of being unprofessional and/or verbally dismissive to patients (e.g., being told to "shut up"). Conversely, some reviews praise specific employees—calling them "awesome" or deserving of "kudos"—and one review notes "fantastic pay" from an employee perspective. This creates a polarized picture in which individual staff members may be compassionate, but systemic staffing shortages and training/behavior problems undermine overall care.

Facilities and hygiene: Multiple reviewers describe the physical environment as unsanitary and unsafe. Reported problems include roaches, a strong urine smell, general filth, and descriptions of the building as a "biohazard." These are serious red flags because they directly impact resident health and comfort. Even reviewers who reported positive interpersonal interactions did not contradict the cleanliness concerns, suggesting facility hygiene is an area of widespread complaint.

Management and communication: Management and administrative communication receive heavy criticism. Reviewers reported an unresponsive administrator who does not return calls, office staff who do not provide clear answers, and instances where visitors were asked to leave and police were contacted. One reviewer explicitly stated that after reporting issues there were no improvements. There is mention of "under new management" alongside statements that the facility is the "worst place I've worked," indicating that changes in leadership have not uniformly resolved perceived problems. The mix of comments about "great changes happening" and simultaneous reports of unresponsiveness suggests inconsistent experiences and possibly variable implementation of corrective actions.

Dining and other services: The only consistently positive operational note concerns at least one dietary aide who was described as caring and kind. That suggests the dining staff or food service may include individuals who provide good, compassionate service, but there is limited information overall about dining quality, activities, or programming. Social services were specifically called out as "horrible" in at least one review, indicating problems coordinating or supporting resident welfare beyond hands-on caregiving.

Patterns and final assessment: The reviews show strong and repeated complaints about neglect, hygiene, and administrative failure, balanced by isolated reports praising individual employees and—less frequently—noting pay or change initiatives. The most consistent and consequential patterns are: inadequate staffing and overworked employees; severe cleanliness and pest-control issues; poor communication and responsiveness from administrators; and instances of alleged medical neglect. Positive comments tend to reference specific staff members rather than system-wide strengths, suggesting that while compassionate employees exist, they are operating within a troubled organizational context. Prospective residents and families should weigh these repeated, serious allegations heavily and seek up-to-date verification (inspections, recent surveys, in-person visits focused on cleanliness and staffing, and direct questions to management about corrective actions) before making placement decisions.
