    Clean facility with caring staff

I moved my mother here and I'm very pleased - the facility is clean, well-kept, and the staff are warm, professional, and attentive; Seth Hobson was especially helpful. There are lots of activities, good food, and a family-like atmosphere that helped my mom settle in quickly and feel loved. I'm very satisfied and would recommend it; a few small improvements would make it exceptional.

    Summary of reviews

Settler's Park presents a mixed but distinct profile: many families describe a clean, comfortable campus with warm, compassionate caregivers and active community programming, while other accounts highlight operational gaps that could affect vulnerable residents. Positive feedback centers on the facility environment, individualized attention, and a strong set of public events and memory-care offerings. Several reviewers praised the quality of event food and entertainment, long-term continuity of care for some residents, and instances of smooth move-ins and attentive bedside care.

Care and staff: Reviewers' experiences with caregiving are polarized. Numerous families emphasize caring, respectful, and skilled staff who treat residents like family and provide attentive personal care. At the same time, there are consistent concerns about inconsistent staffing levels, variable staff experience across shifts, and instances of delayed response times. These operational staffing inconsistencies correlate with reports of long waits for assistance and examples of staff failing to follow through on tasks. There are also isolated but serious concerns following resident adverse outcomes that families attribute to lapses in supervision and response; these underscore the importance of evaluating staffing ratios and training for high-dependency residents.

Medication and clinical management: A recurring pattern involves gaps in medication-management and documentation practices. Specific issues described include medication misorders or shipments occurring without clear authorization, limited inventory tracking for returned medications, and billing/insurance actions tied to medication handling. Separately, families reported care-level increases and reassessments that were not communicated in writing or coordinated well with relatives, indicating weaknesses in clinical-administration handoffs and care-plan transparency.

Dining and nutrition: Dining experiences vary. Many reviewers rate the food positively and praise event catering and entertainment meals, while others describe inconsistent daily meal quality and menu choices that are not always adapted to residents with swallowing risks or cognitive impairment. These discrepancies suggest the need for more consistent dietitian oversight and menu modification protocols for residents with specific nutritional or safety needs.

Activities and social life: The community offers visible strengths in social programming—public events, music, and themed activities receive frequent praise. Memory-care programming is highlighted as a strong area by some families. However, several accounts indicate a reduction in outings and external activities over time, and a need for more tailored programming on specific units. Overall, activity offerings are present and can be engaging, but their frequency and resident-specific appropriateness appear uneven.

Facilities and safety: The physical plant is generally described as well kept and comfortable, with amenities that meet residents' needs. That said, there are isolated safety and maintenance concerns (for example, HVAC issues and supervision gaps for residents who wander) that families noted. These issues point to the importance of reviewing environmental safety controls, secure perimeters, and maintenance responsiveness.

Management and administration: Administrative practices emerge as an area for improvement. Key operational issues include inconsistent communication with families, billing and deposit disputes, an undisclosed diabetes-related surcharge that families characterized as unexpected, and coordination gaps between departments (clinical, pharmacy, and billing). Some families described positive interactions with community-relations staff and facility leadership, indicating strengths in parts of the administrative team; however, process reliability and financial transparency are recurring themes for attention.

Bottom line: Settler's Park appears to provide compassionate, individualized care for many residents, with strong community programming and well-maintained facilities. Prospective residents and families should balance those strengths against documented operational weaknesses: staffing variability, medication- and inventory-control gaps, inconsistent administrative communication, and uneven dining and activity consistency. For families considering placement, targeted questions about staffing ratios, medication protocols, documentation of care-level changes, menu accommodations for swallowing and cognitive impairments, and clear disclosure of all fees (including disease-specific surcharges) will help assess whether the facility’s current operations match the prospective resident’s needs.

    About Settler's Park Senior Living

Settler's Park Senior Living sits in a quiet spot and offers seniors a place to live that lets them stay independent and keep their privacy and dignity, and they give help only when someone really needs it, so you still make your own choices most days, and you'll see right away they try hard to make folks feel at home, with pet-friendly rooms, spaces for both cats and dogs, and plenty of comfort in their spacious apartments which stay efficient but cozy as the years go by. This community gives a handful of options depending on what a person might need, like independent living for elders who don't need much help but enjoy being surrounded by others or assisted living for folks who need a hand with daily tasks like taking medicine, dressing, moving around, or using the restroom, plus specialized memory care for people with Alzheimer's or other kinds of memory loss, where care partners stay nearby around the clock to back them up. There's a growth and wellness plan that gets made up together with each resident and their family, so the support matches what each person really needs, and the Person-Centered Care assessments make it so the staff and families know what's best for everyone. You'll find only forty-four beds here, which keeps a close family feeling, and there's always a push for safety, security, and folks staying connected to their neighbors, with health monitoring in place to make sure everyone's as well as possible day by day, and their True North Programs focus on more personal care based on what each resident likes and wants. There's a beauty salon to pop into, plenty of activities planned by full-time directors, and field trips out and about, so no one just sits alone day after day. On top of all that, Settler's Park Senior Living has services in place for skilled nursing, continuing care, and even hospice or respite care, along with support for caregivers, planning, and clear direction about insurance, savings, and benefits if you need to know what you can afford or where to get help. The community works under the Oregon Health Care Association, has strong ties to technology partnerships for things like messaging, social media, and Meta Pay, and provides resources with real stories, glossaries, and caregiver support to keep things clear and helpful as you go along. You'll see the staff here don't try to do everything for their residents; they stay close when needed, let you keep your pride whenever you can, and build up a true sense of belonging, doing their best to keep everyone as active and social as possible while offering living spaces and care that fit each stage in a person's journey.
