    Fast compassionate placement near home

I needed a fast, local placement for my mom and Mt. Hood Senior Solutions - especially Kathy Fallon and her team - came through. They were resourceful, knowledgeable, compassionate and available 24/7, did the legwork (Medicaid/private room options, free referral), advocated for us, and found the perfect near-home match quickly. The staff are kind, proactive and trustworthy - the whole transition was calm and seamless; I highly recommend them.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment: The reviews for Mt. Hood Senior Solutions are overwhelmingly positive. Families consistently describe the organization and its staff as compassionate, professional, and highly effective at navigating the senior placement process. Reviewers repeatedly use phrases such as "highly recommend," "went above and beyond," and "heart of gold," indicating strong satisfaction. Staff members by name (notably Cathy/Cathy Fallon, Kathy Fallon, Angela, Rochelle, and Kim) receive frequent praise for their empathy, availability, and individual attention. The service is viewed as a trusted, calming presence during what families describe as one of the most stressful moments in caring for an aging loved one.

Care quality and placement outcomes: A dominant theme is Mt. Hood Senior Solutions' ability to find appropriate, often excellent placements — including memory care and hospice options — that meet both clinical needs and family preferences (proximity to home, community atmosphere, etc.). Several reviews highlight that the team successfully placed seniors who had complex medical conditions or who had been denied by other providers. Families report that placements were not only timely but also resulted in thriving residents, with explicit mentions of loved ones being happy and settled months after placement. The team also appears adept at finding options across payment types, including Medicaid and private-pay arrangements.

Staff performance and communication: Reviewers emphasize consistent, proactive communication as a core strength. The staff is described as attentive listeners who ask the right questions, provide daily updates (including hospital/family communication), and follow up reliably. Availability outside normal business hours and 24/7 support are called out as particularly valuable during emergencies or tight discharge timelines. Multiple accounts note that staff members served as strong advocates on behalf of their clients, intervening with facilities, addressing concerns, and guiding families through paperwork, tours, and logistics.

Operations, logistics, and relationships with providers: Beyond referral work, Mt. Hood Senior Solutions is praised for organizing relocation logistics — arranging packing, transport, and move-in details — and for having honest, well-established connections with senior living providers in the Portland market and surrounding areas. Reviewers value the firm's frank but compassionate assessments and the accuracy of their referrals. The service is described as free to families, which many reviewers note as an invaluable resource that saved time and reduced stress. There are repeated references to the organization being well-connected, resourceful, and able to build enduring relationships with both families and providers.

Facilities, activities, and on-site concerns: While most comments focus on Mt. Hood Senior Solutions rather than specific facilities, reviewers do mention characteristics they sought and found — such as memory care expertise, day-center access, proximity for family visits, and beautiful settings. There are occasional notes about staffing concerns within partner facilities; when such issues arose, reviewers credit Mt. Hood staff with raising or addressing them and helping families make alternative arrangements when necessary. There is also positive mention of social and recreational programming for residents (including IDD services in one summary), indicating attention to quality-of-life factors beyond clinical placement.

Patterns, limitations, and areas of stress: The primary negative themes are not criticisms of Mt. Hood Senior Solutions itself but inherent challenges in the placement process: the general stress of transitions, constrained bed availability in certain care categories, urgent hospital discharge pressures, and facility-level staffing issues in the broader market. Several reviewers explicitly note that Mt. Hood Senior Solutions reduced or eliminated the stress they expected, but their comments still reflect the reality that timelines and market constraints can be sources of anxiety. A small number of remarks reference "low expectations" prior to engaging the service, suggesting that some families approach placements with skepticism but are ultimately pleasantly surprised.

Conclusion: In sum, Mt. Hood Senior Solutions is portrayed as a highly capable, compassionate, and well-connected placement and care-navigation service. The firm’s strengths lie in personalized advocacy, deep local knowledge, strong communication, and hands-on operational support. Families repeatedly report positive outcomes, including successful memory care placements, satisfaction with chosen communities, and relief during crises. The few concerns noted are largely external — market limitations and facility staffing — and reviewers consistently credit Mt. Hood Senior Solutions with helping them navigate or mitigate those challenges. The overall pattern is one of trust, gratitude, and strong recommendation from families who used the service.

    About Mt. Hood Senior Solutions

Mt. Hood Senior Solutions sits over on 376 Northeast 219th Avenue in Gresham, right near the Mount Hood Adult Day Center, and it's the kind of place folks go when they or their loved ones need some help finding their way through all the senior living choices out there, whether that's Assisted Living, Independent Living, Memory Care, 24-Hour Nursing, Residential Care, or even In-Home Care, and they've got this Program Director named Nerissa Donlon who's been guiding people since 2019, though the team's got over 20 years of experience in Portland and the area around it, which really helps when you're trying to figure out what's best for someone, especially when these services are free to the client because they're paid for by partner businesses. The Adult Day Center runs Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm and that's where seniors, or adults with memory issues or disabilities, can join in for the day for socializing, activities, and personal care, and, before making any decisions, loved ones can try out a free day just to see what it's like, which can take some worry off everyone's mind. Mt. Hood Senior Solutions offers help with finding local retirement communities, care homes, and elder living spots in both Oregon and southwest Washington, and they've got a local resource specialist who knows the area really well, plus you can book virtual consultations or regular in-person tours where families will have their questions answered, paperwork sorted, and can watch the program happen in real time. Services include assisted living help, medication management, daily activity support, and meals, and there's also help for folks who need respite care. There's a strong commitment here to individualized plans, so each participant gets care tailored to what they can do, trying to help everyone function at their best. There's a conference room on site for caregiver support groups that meet every third Thursday of the month from 11am to 1pm, which gives families a chance to connect and learn a bit. The center focuses on keeping people safe and engaged with opportunities for intellectual stimulation, social time, spiritual growth, and emotional support, and it's all about nurturing an environment where people, especially those with memory loss or special needs, feel respected and enriched. Mt. Hood Senior Solutions follows high ethical standards, holds an Oregon DHS registration, and keeps a steady presence in the senior community, making things a little less overwhelming for families facing big decisions.
