    Warm home-like care; food inconsistent

I've seen firsthand a warm, home-like place with compassionate, attentive staff who know residents by name, great community engagement and many activities that keep people happy. The facility is clean, well-organized, and leadership (Jenni Grove and team) is visible and involved. My concerns are inconsistent food quality, occasional slow or missed responses and poor staff follow-through, and some reports of unprofessional behavior/screening that should be addressed. Overall I recommend it for the caring atmosphere and programming, but advise checking current staffing and food service practices.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is predominantly positive, with frequent and consistent praise for the staff, community engagement, cleanliness, and the social life at The Oaks at Lebanon. Many reviewers emphasize a warm, home-like atmosphere where residents appear happy, active, and well cared for. The property itself is repeatedly described as clean, attractive, and well maintained. Families commonly note that staff members are friendly, caring, and attentive, often remembering residents and visitors by name and going the extra mile to provide comfort and assistance. Leadership and public-facing management receive notable positive attention, particularly marketing director Jenni Grove, who is repeatedly credited as an exceptional ambassador and a driving force behind community outreach and positive public perception.

Care quality and staff performance are central themes. Numerous reviews highlight compassionate day-to-day caregiving, long-tenured and experienced staff, and a multi-department team that collaborates to meet resident needs. Instances of staff being respectful, knowledgeable, and diligent are common, and families appreciate the personalized touches such as tailored meals, hairstyling services, and attentive CNA support. That said, there are repeated reports of inconsistency in service delivery. Several reviewers describe delays in assistance, ignored or long-wait phone calls, and at least one example of a urinal not being emptied. While many residents and families feel safe and supported, a minority of reviews raise serious concerns about unprofessional behavior, staff gossip, poor screening practices, and even allegations related to elder safety. These issues, although less frequent than the positive comments, are significant because they relate to resident safety and staff culture.

The facility’s social programming and community engagement are standout strengths. The Oaks is frequently praised for offering ample daily activities—shopping outings, music, pamper days, intergenerational events with puppies, Alzheimer’s initiatives, and other special events open to the broader community. Reviewers describe an active, social resident population that benefits from these programs. Community recognition such as local awards and active outreach further reinforce the impression that The Oaks plays a valued role in the Lebanon area. Many reviews specifically note that these activities and outreach efforts contribute to residents’ quality of life and to the facility’s positive reputation.

Dining and food service receive mixed but mostly favorable comments. Numerous reviewers describe the food as very good to fabulous, using phrases like fine dining experience and well-balanced nutritional menus. At the same time some reviews call out inconsistent food quality, limited menu selection, or service issues in the kitchen, with a few citing rude kitchen staff or employees being treated poorly. Overall, dining appears to be a strength for many residents but one area where experiences vary and where management might focus on standardizing quality and staff culture in the kitchen.

Facility operations, management, and value are mixed topics. Management and leadership receive praise for community involvement and responsiveness in many accounts, and several families report that initial move-in problems were resolved satisfactorily. However, operational concerns recur: inconsistent follow-through on care tasks, response-time issues for calls, unresolved move-in hiccups for some, room placement or size dissatisfaction (including rooms farther from amenities or with restrictions), and price/value concerns. Cost is described as high by multiple reviewers; some feel the price is justified by the level of care and amenities, while others explicitly state the value for cost is poor and would not recommend the facility on that basis.

Patterns and recommendations from the review synthesis: The dominant, recurring strengths are a caring and committed staff, an active social environment, strong community engagement led by visible leadership, and a clean, well-maintained facility. The principal weaknesses are inconsistencies in service delivery, occasional lapses in professionalism or staff screening, intermittent dining quality issues, and concerns about cost and room placement. Importantly, safety-related allegations and reports of unprofessional behavior—though not the majority view—are serious red flags that should prompt targeted attention and remediation by management.

For prospective residents and families, these reviews suggest The Oaks at Lebanon is likely to provide a welcoming, active, and well-maintained living environment with many staff who are compassionate and engaged. At the same time, visitors should ask pointed questions during tours and interviews about staffing ratios, response times to calls, staff hiring and screening processes, recent incident reports or remedial actions, kitchen quality control, room placement options, and contract details on pricing and what is included. Overall, the facility receives strong endorsements for community, atmosphere, and many aspects of care, but the mixed reports on safety, consistency, and value indicate areas where due diligence is advisable before deciding.

Seniors here can pick from studio, one-bedroom, or two-bedroom apartments, some pet-friendly and all designed to help folks feel comfortable and safe, and everyone gets access to modern features like in-unit kitchenettes, wheelchair-friendly layouts, and cable TV. The building has wide, bright hallways, a beauty salon, a fitness center, a movie room, free Wi-Fi computer areas, indoor and outdoor gathering spaces, meeting rooms, and a garden patio where people like to sit during the nicer months or maybe visit with friends or family, and there are lively spots like a bar area, a TV lounge, a library, and fireplaces for cool evenings, while you can often find neighbors meeting up for card games or arts and crafts. The onsite executive chef and dedicated dining staff offer three restaurant-style meals a day with lots of choices and snacks, plus you've got access to private dining for family get-togethers, and there's always coffee brewing, sometimes a baking class running, or just a few folks chatting over fresh cookies in the bistro or café area.

Assisted living staff offer help with daily activities like bathing, dressing, housekeeping, laundry, and medication reminders, with a full team of caregivers on-site to support residents around the clock, and the memory care unit is set up with extra support for folks with Alzheimer's or dementia, giving them routines and activities that feel familiar and safe. Independence is encouraged where possible, but help's always nearby if needed, and each resident gets a plan tailored to their needs, including aging in place, hospice, and respite care options. The Oaks at Lebanon offers in-home care services for folks wanting extra support but not ready for full-time community living, which helps people stay connected even as their needs change.

Recreation is a strong focus, so residents can join weekly fitness classes, lifelong learning events, garden club, worship services for multiple faiths, movie nights, and social games like bingo or arts and crafts. There's a calendar packed with activities to keep seniors active-art therapy, baking classes, holiday parties, car shows-and transportation is scheduled for shopping or local trips out. Communities like The Oaks try to help residents stay connected and make friends, whether over lunch, in the garden on a sunny day, or at a special event. Staff build close relationships with residents, aiming to respect everyone and help them feel at home through personal attention and a culture of kindness.
