    Compassionate, attentive care; immaculate home

I placed my mom here and couldn't be happier. Lilly, Mitch and their experienced, compassionate team provide attentive one-on-one care-meds managed, special meals and dialysis transportation accommodated-while keeping an immaculate, homey, odor-free house with tasteful décor, a friendly dog, activities, and a warm, comforting atmosphere. Owners live on-site and closely supervise staff who go above and beyond; my mom was comfortable and well cared for in her final years. Highly recommended. One thing to note: rooms share bathrooms.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment: The reviews for Mitch's Care are overwhelmingly positive. Reviewers repeatedly describe the home as an outstanding, highly recommended, and even a "hidden gem" in the Portland metro area. The dominant themes are exceptional, personalized caregiving delivered in a small, home-like setting; strong, hands-on management by experienced owner-operators; high standards of cleanliness and maintenance; and a warm, supportive atmosphere that makes residents and family members comfortable and satisfied with care.

Care quality and staff: The care quality is the strongest and most consistently praised aspect. Multiple reviewers highlight compassionate, intelligent, and attentive caregivers who provide individualized attention—examples include gently straightening blankets, assisting residents with mobility, and chatting happily. The team is described as professional and dedicated, frequently going above and beyond to meet resident needs. Reviewers note strong communication and problem-solving from staff, which gives families confidence. The presence of Mitch and Lilli as on-site owners/operator-managers is emphasized: Mitch's long-term care experience and Lilli's elder-care knowledge are cited as valuable assets, and reviewers appreciate that owners live on-site and closely supervise daily care.

Services and medical support: Reviews indicate robust practical supports: medications are managed, transportation to dialysis is available, and special care needs are met. Several reviewers explicitly mention 24-hour care availability and individualized attention to needs such as walker use and other mobility issues. Families state their loved ones were well cared for through the final years, and that the home provided comforting, reliable support during that time.

Facilities, cleanliness, and environment: The physical environment is repeatedly described as immaculate, tastefully decorated, cheerful, and free of odors. Outdoor amenities such as a deck and garden are noted, and the overall impression is of a well-kept, inviting home. The small size of the facility contributes to a homey, family-like atmosphere and allows for more one-on-one interaction. Reviewers also mention a friendly dog on site, which is presented positively and contributes to the home's warm environment.

Dining and activities: Food and activities receive generally positive remarks. Several reviewers praise home-cooked, healthy meals and note that dietary needs and meal accommodations are handled well. Activities are offered and help keep residents engaged and happy. A minority comment described the food as merely "decent," indicating that while dining is generally a strength, there may be occasional variability in how reviewers perceive meal quality.

Management and communication: Management and staff communication are highlighted as conscientious and attentive. Reviewers emphasize that management closely supervises care and provides valuable advice to families. Problem-solving and responsiveness to concerns are reported, and family members express comfort with the care their relatives received under Lilly and Mitch's leadership.

Notable patterns and concerns: The reviews are strongly weighted toward positive experiences, with recurring praise for individualized care, cleanliness, and hands-on management. The most concrete concern mentioned across reviews is the lack of a private bathroom in some rooms; this appears to be an important consideration for prospective residents and families who prioritize en-suite facilities. A few reviewers were less effusive about meals (one explicitly called the food "decent"), suggesting that while dining is typically well handled, expectations may vary.

Conclusion: Mitch's Care emerges from these summaries as a small, well-run, and highly regarded care home where experienced, caring staff and on-site owner-operators deliver personalized, attentive care in a clean, pleasant environment. It is especially recommended for families seeking a home-like setting with close supervision, medication management, transportation for dialysis, 24-hour support, and staff who go the extra mile. Prospective residents should confirm room configurations and bathroom arrangements if a private bathroom is important to them, and may want to discuss specific dietary preferences to ensure meal expectations are met.

    About Mitch's Care

Mitch's Care, also called Mitch's Care Home, sits in a quiet Portland, OR, neighborhood and offers both the calm of a small, homelike community and a good set of features for people who need daily help. The place gives a choice of private or semi-private rooms, each with a private bathroom, and wheelchair-accessible showers, and the staff can talk with residents in English, French, Italian, or Romanian, which helps some folks feel more at ease. Residents get meals provided each day, and there are vegetarian options if needed, and for those who need a hand with things like eating, bathing, or getting around, the aides and nurses are ready and trained to help, which is important for people dealing with diabetes, memory problems, or who need high-level care.

The home has indoor and outdoor spaces, with comfortable spots to sit and talk or look at the garden, and some days include activities to keep everyone social and involved, since the staff run programs for entertainment, learning, or just a chance to get together. Transportation is offered for a fee, covering outings or doctors' visits, and the place sits near public transit, which helps families come by or residents go out when they want. Mitch's Care lets its residents smoke outdoors, and the community stays secure with systems like Wander Guard for memory care folks, and they've designed their amenities for both safety and comfort.

You'll find this place well-kept, warm, and tidy, run by Purple Door, LLC, and the reviews are strong, with customers giving it high marks, usually 5 stars. They cover a wide range of senior needs with types of care like independent living, assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing, and offer short-term respite stays if someone needs a little help after surgery or while family steps away. The staff are known for being kind and paying close attention, and they help out with things like medication, incontinence, and moving around, so nobody's left alone in their needs. It all fits into a smaller residential care home that tries to feel less like an institution and more like a real home, and with the average price reported around $3,700, the place gives a clear idea of what families might expect with costs, though final charges can change depending on care. Amenities also include laundry, housekeeping, dining rooms, and places to relax or meet with others, and people can see photos of the rooms and facilities if they want to get a sense of things before visiting.
