I placed a loved one at Woodland Heights and couldn't be happier. The staff are professional, caring, and low-turnover - consistent, attentive caregivers who treat residents like family. The rooms and grounds are spotless and beautiful, the food is excellent, activities are plentiful, and I feel my family member is safe and very well cared for. I highly recommend it.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews for Woodland Heights Assisted Living is strongly positive, with many reviewers praising the quality of care, the caring nature of staff, and the pleasant, homelike environment. The most frequently mentioned strengths are the compassionate and capable caregivers, low staff turnover with many long-tenured employees, and administrative professionalism. Multiple reviewers specifically call out staff who go out of their way to ensure resident comfort and who are supportive to families. The facility also appears to have high regulatory and safety standards, referenced by a deficiency-free state survey and general comments about compliance with Oregon assisted living laws.

Facility upkeep and setting are consistent highlights. Reviewers repeatedly describe Woodland Heights as very clean, with well-maintained rooms, attractive grounds, flower gardens, walking paths, shade trees, and a large covered patio. Several comments note pleasant views from windows and a quiet, convenient location. Room size and perceived value for money are also called out favorably. The dining experience receives consistent praise — multiple reviewers mention improved and delicious food with a good variety of options.

Activities and social life are a major strength noted across reviews. The facility reportedly has a robust activities calendar, a stable activities director of several years, and a wide variety of programming that accommodates different personalities and levels of engagement. Examples include shopping trips, lunch outings, scenic drives, and frequent on-site events, which contribute to resident engagement, friendships, and a strong sense of community. Pet tolerance is an added plus for some families and residents.

Management and administration are generally described as professional and responsive. Several reviewers explicitly call Woodland Heights 'professionally run' or 'top-notch administration,' and there are mentions of staff willingness to follow up and take comments seriously. The facility's family-owned nature is noted and, in many reviews, contributes to the home-like atmosphere and dedicated caregiving. Reviewers also credit the facility with consistent care through the COVID period, indicating resilience and continuity.

Despite overwhelmingly positive feedback, there are important negative patterns to note. A minority of reviewers report poor staff training, inexperienced caregivers, and instances where residents fell — concerns that point to potential gaps in staff competency or supervision in isolated cases. One serious complaint mentions a rude head nurse who yells at residents, which is an outlier but severe enough to warrant attention. Another concern is that Woodland Heights may not be able to meet all levels of care needs; some reviewers felt the facility could not provide varied or higher-acuity care when required. Availability is another practical downside: several comments suggest rooms are full or occupancy is high, implying waitlists or limited capacity.

There are also a few logistical or contextual issues to be aware of. Some reviewers called out confusion with similarly named facilities, which can complicate inquiries or reputation management. A few mentions that activities were 'starting up' or that there could be 'more to do' indicate opportunities to expand programming further, although most feedback about activities is positive. Finally, while most comments emphasize attentive, loving staff, the mixed reports — overwhelmingly positive but with significant negative incidents reported by some families — suggest that prospective residents and families should tour the facility, meet staff, ask about training and fall-prevention protocols, and inquire about current availability and levels of care supported.

In summary, Woodland Heights Assisted Living appears to be a well-maintained, community-focused facility with strong praise for its caring staff, stable leadership, beautiful grounds, engaging activities, and good food. The dominant impression is of a safe, comfortable, and social environment where residents are generally content and well cared for. However, the presence of a few serious negative reports — particularly about training, falls, and at least one incident of staff misconduct — means families should perform due diligence on staffing practices, training, and clinical capability to ensure the facility fits their loved one’s specific care needs.

    About Woodland Heights Assisted Living

Woodland Heights Assisted Living sits in a quiet part of Tigard, Oregon, tucked among shade trees and flowers near a forest, which really helps keep things peaceful for residents who like being close to nature but want easy access to town, and you can see this same calm feeling throughout the building because it's made a bit like a country lodge with a big stone fireplace in the community space, lots of open areas, and spacious apartments where people can pick from studios, standard one-bedrooms, or larger deluxe one-bedrooms with 1.5 baths, and, if that's important, some even have patios or balconies for a little bit of private fresh air. Apartments come in different sizes, and studios run about 375 to 400 square feet, while standard one-bedrooms are between 500 and 630 square feet, but folks who want more room can choose deluxe one-bedrooms around 675 square feet, and all apartments are private, clean, and built for comfort. Safety is a big deal here, and the building has things like strong railings and banisters in important spots to prevent falls, plus a handy 24/7 emergency call system with buttons all around the place, and you'll find that a registered nurse supervises all the care, which really helps with peace of mind because staff can help with daily things like bathing, dressing, or managing medications whenever folks need it. Woodland Heights has an Enhanced Living program that offers even more care, with staff and residents working closely together, and there are six levels of care so families can pick just what's needed, which also helps with costs since choices can change as needs do. Most chores like cleaning and cooking are handled by staff, so residents can just spend their time how they like, which means more time for hobbies, outings to places like the beach or local stores, nature walks on the scenic paths, or just relaxing in raised garden beds or on the covered patio when the weather's nice. There's a game room for cards, puzzles, and board games and a good on-site library for folks who love to read, while a full-service beauty salon lets residents keep up with hair and grooming without leaving the building. Meals are home-cooked three times a day and served in the dining area, and if transportation is needed for a doctor's appointment or shopping, staff arrange for rides. Woodland Heights welcomes pets, so people don't have to give up their animals, and the place has always put community first, with low staff turnover, which helps build strong relationships and a friendly, familiar feeling for everyone living there. This is a family-owned business that's been caring for people in the community since 2001, with a focus on safety, dignity, and giving residents and their families peace of mind, all in a relaxed, down-to-earth setting. The facility has 48 beds, supervised healthcare, and a strong reputation for comfort and end-of-life support, keeping residents happy and well cared for, while the combination of clean apartments, supportive, capable staff, and a variety of activities helps everyone feel included and respected. Woodland Heights keeps its doors open to the changes that come with aging, providing options and support without making anyone feel rushed or out of place, and does so with honesty, warmth, and real attention to daily needs.
