    Affordable, clean, but thefts recur

I lived here and found the place affordable, clean, with private rooms, 24-hour supervision, medication assistance, housekeeping, and many accommodating, courteous staff (the receptionist was wonderful). Unfortunately I experienced theft/money not refunded and a persistent bedbug/pest problem that treatments didn't resolve, and some staff were rude or unhelpful about those issues. Note it's not a nursing home-higher-level care requires outside medical follow-ups.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews is mixed, with a substantial number of positive comments about daily living, staff demeanor, and affordability, counterbalanced by serious isolated but high-impact complaints about pest infestation, theft, and inconsistent responsiveness from staff and management. Many reviewers emphasize that the facility provides a pleasant living environment with private rooms, routine housekeeping and laundry, and 24-hour supervision, and they describe staff as courteous, accommodating, and "top notch." At the same time, a few reviewers report troubling incidents (bedbugs, ineffective pest treatments, theft, and unreimbursed money) that raise safety and management concerns that prospective residents and families should notice and investigate further.

Care quality and medical support: Reviews consistently describe the level of care as focused on personal care rather than skilled nursing. Positive notes include medication assistance, personal care services, and round-the-clock supervision. Reviewers also mention that outside medical follow-ups occur (suggesting residents see external physicians or receive off-site medical care), which aligns with the statement that this facility is "not a nurse home" and provides a level of care below a nursing home. That means the facility appears well-suited to residents needing help with activities of daily living and medication management, but not for those who require skilled nursing or complex medical care on-site.

Staff and interpersonal interactions: Staffing receives mostly favorable mentions — reviewers call staff courteous, accommodating, and even "top notch," and some explicitly say they had a "wonderful experience" and were well accommodated. However, there is clear variability: at least one reviewer describes a rude receptionist, and several point to unhelpful responsiveness from staff and management when addressing the pest problem. This pattern suggests generally good day-to-day interactions but inconsistent handling of serious complaints or incidents.

Facilities, cleanliness, and amenities: Many reviews praise clean premises, nice living conditions, private bedrooms, and provided housekeeping and laundry services. Affordability is a recurring positive. These attributes portray a facility comfortable for residents who require non-medical support. Contradicting those positive comments are specific reports of bedbugs and a broader pest infestation, with claims that initial treatments were ineffective. The coexistence of "clean premises" comments and pest reports indicates either inconsistent facility conditions over time, uneven housekeeping effectiveness, or isolated but severe pest incidents that affected some residents but not others.

Management, safety, and financial concerns: Several reviews raise serious management-related concerns that stand out from the otherwise positive daily-care reports. Reported theft and unresolved requests for money refunds are notable red flags; these are not mere service complaints but issues affecting resident safety and financial trust. Combined with reports that staff responsiveness was poor when addressing the pest problem, these comments suggest lapses in complaint resolution, follow-through, or policies around resident property and reimbursements. Prospective residents and families should consider these as significant risk factors to verify with the facility directly.

Net impression and notable patterns: The dominant themes are strong daily-care services (personal care, medication assistance, housekeeping), courteous and accommodating staff in many cases, private rooms, and affordability — making this facility attractive to those who do not require nursing-level care. However, the negative reports (pest infestation with ineffective treatment, theft, refusal or failure to refund money, and at least one rude receptionist) are serious and recurring enough to merit attention. Reviews collectively paint a facility that can provide comfortable, affordable assisted living with compassionate staff for many residents, but one where management responsiveness and safety/maintenance follow-through may be inconsistent and should be explicitly questioned by prospective residents and families before committing.

    About Kaysim-Court Manor

Kaysim-Court Manor is a family-owned group home at 5919 Wayne Ave in Philadelphia that's been running for over 23 years, so it's got some experience with caring for folks. The place has 81 beds and is a state-licensed residential care home. You'll find a mix of seniors, veterans, and adults with mental or physical health issues living here, and the staff includes helpful nurses and trained aides who're around 24 hours a day, every day of the week. The manor gives care for people who need help with daily things like bathing, dressing, or managing medicines, and they also have services for those with Alzheimer's, dementia, PTSD, anxiety, or depression, so there's some extra attention for memory and mental health needs.

Residents get three meals a day that chefs and meal planners make using good ingredients, and the place accepts people who aren't nursing-home bound as long as they have insurance for health care and medicine. Kaysim-Court Manor has a good spot near hospitals, clinics, and about seventeen pharmacies, and there's a physician nearby to handle any medical needs. If you want to get out, there's transportation close by, several parks, cafes, and restaurants, and the manor holds activities so folks can socialize, stay active, and enjoy things together. Home care services are offered for those still living at home, and there's a focus on creating a safe and caring atmosphere with pets and peer support as well. The staff has won community awards and some people have spoken highly of their experience according to reviews, though every place has its ups and downs. The facility isn't BBB accredited, but it does have a brochure if anyone's curious and wants to know more. Administrative staff work Monday through Saturday during set hours, handling the day-to-day business. All residents can count on a place to live, meals, and someone nearby if help is needed.
