Bryn Mawr Extended Care Center sits at 956 E Railroad Ave in Haverford and offers skilled nursing care, senior rehabilitation, and both short-term and long-term stays for older adults. The staff speak English and care for residents much like family, offering help with bathing, dressing, medication, and transfers. There are memory care communities for those living with memory loss, providing 24-hour support and activities to help with memory. Nursing staff are on duty day and night with 12-16 hour nursing shifts and 24-hour supervision, and the rehab team includes physical, occupational, and speech therapists who help residents reach their maximum potential. Whether a resident needs respite care after a hospital stay, help between surgeries, or a more permanent home, the Pre-registration Program helps make the move from hospital to rehab smooth and easy.
The facility has 22 open beds of 160, but isn't currently accepting new patients, and those who stay here enjoy a home-like setting with private bathrooms, furnished rooms, kitchenettes, cable TV, WiFi, telephones, and air conditioning. There's a dining room with restaurant-style meals prepared by a professional chef, and diets for diabetes or allergies are supported. Housekeeping and laundry, including dry cleaning, keep clothes and rooms tidy, and a 24-hour call system means help is always close by. Residents can join in community-sponsored events, outings, movie nights in the theater room, fitness programs, and resident-run gatherings, and there's always something to do with daily scheduled activities, arts, game rooms, a computer center, beauty salon, and a small library nearby.
Wellness programs, a garden, outdoor spaces with walking paths, and a dedicated wellness center give everyone a chance to relax and enjoy some fresh air, and transportation services cover medical and non-medical trips. The team provides therapy to help people return home as quickly as possible, and palliative care is also available. The American Health Care Association gave the center a 2020 Quality Initiative Recognition Program award for its good work. Bryn Mawr Extended Care Center has over 30 years of experience in caring for seniors and works to create a warm, welcoming place where people feel at ease, especially around the holidays with traditions like the Secret Santa program. Medicaid and Medicare are accepted for payment, and visiting hours are flexible, often 24/7. Residents receive personalized attention from registered nurses, therapists, and support staff, and the center takes pride in treating each person with respect and kindness.
