    About Park Home

Park Home stands as a landmark building in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, tied to the name of architect Eber Culver and carrying more than 150 years of history, beginning in 1864 as the grand Herdic House Hotel, and then called Park Hotel, Park Home, and Park Place over the years, and while it once had more floors, now you'll see only two stories left, but those two each reach almost fifteen feet high, since during its conversion to a retirement home, workers removed two of the original four stories to fit new needs. The building keeps its striking Italianate style with sandstone walls, stuccoed exteriors, and detailed sandstone quoins, along with the hood molds and paired roof brackets you don't find much these days, and each facade has covered verandas or porches with four-bay pavilions right at the corners, while a wide courtyard sits at the center and the grounds hold big lawns and tall trees, so you get a real sense of space and age, especially on the greensward, which is good for outdoor gatherings. Inside, Park Home offers assisted living and memory care, with studio room layouts, and provides support for seniors needing help with daily activities like bathing, dressing, or keeping up with medication, and the staff can help with everything from moving between beds and wheelchairs to monitoring health needs like diabetes and incontinence, plus they're available day and night for emergencies, and meals are planned and prepared onsite to keep life simpler for residents. Indoor common spaces let folks socialize or just sit and talk, while activity programs add some variety, including on-site devotional events and trips out, and there's no shortage of memorabilia and little touches that show off the long history of the place. The building is currently under restoration and has space for rent, so parts of it are available for lease, events, and formal gatherings like rehearsal dinners or business meetings in what's now called 800 Park Place in some future plans, taking advantage of both its big interior spaces and the broad lawns outside for holiday or summer events. There's really no other building quite like it in the area when you look at the style and the years it carries, because it's an icon for Williamsport with a story you can see in every stone and bracket.
