    Clean compassionate rehab, minor issues

I placed my mother here and overall felt very reassured. The facility is exceptionally clean and bright, with compassionate, professional staff and excellent therapists who helped her make real progress; meals, activities, amenities and communication were consistently strong. Residents are safe, well cared-for and socialized-this is a solid dementia/rehab choice. My only issues were occasional staffing shortages that led to long waits for restroom help and some medication/pharmacy delays, plus difficult Covid lockdowns; despite that I would recommend this place.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across these reviews is strongly positive, with most family members and residents praising the quality of care, the professionalism and compassion of staff, and the facility’s cleanliness and pleasant environment. Many reviewers singled out the nursing and caregiving teams as attentive, patient, and emotionally supportive; families repeatedly noted that staff made residents feel valued and kept them well informed about condition and treatment. Rehabilitation services are a frequent highlight — daily therapists, focused PT/OT, and visible progress in mobility were reported in multiple reviews, and several reviewers said they would choose Misericordia again for future rehab or long-term care.

Facility and environment receive consistently favorable remarks. The center is described as exceptionally clean, bright, and well-maintained, with natural lighting and attractive gardens. Several reviewers mentioned that rooms and common areas are beautiful or aesthetically pleasing, and that amenities such as a fireplace, exercise room, cafeteria, and small café add to resident comfort. On-site personal services like hair styling, helpful housekeeping and food-service staff, and an emphasis on both socialization and privacy were also commonly reported. Many reviewers praised the food as healthy and tasty, sometimes calling it wonderful or delicious.

Communication and administration were also strong themes. Families appreciated proactive updates from staff and administration, and cited specific examples of staff going above and beyond — for example, lending a phone for video calls and promptly coordinating care. Several reviewers described the administration as responsive and willing to work with families, contributing to an overall sense of trust and safety in the facility.

Despite the widespread praise, several notable concerns appear repeatedly and should be considered. Staffing shortages and staff-to-resident ratio issues were mentioned multiple times — one reviewer referenced an official state agency downgrade tied to staffing levels. Short staffing was linked in some accounts to longer waits for personal assistance (such as restroom help) and at least one report described neglectful behavior. A few reviewers reported medication delays and pharmacy mix-ups. COVID-19 lockdowns were also named repeatedly as a very difficult period for residents and families, reflecting understandable distress during that time. Another recurring nuance is suitability: while Misericordia is seen as strong in dementia/Alzheimer’s care and rehabilitation, a few reviewers warned it may be less well suited for residents who are cognitively intact but physically limited.

In summary, Misericordia Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is portrayed as a high-quality care option with compassionate staff, strong rehabilitation services, excellent cleanliness, pleasant grounds and amenities, and effective communication with families. The dominant pattern is one of satisfaction and gratitude for improvements in residents’ mobility and well-being. The primary caveats are staffing-related: occasional shortages, a cited state downgrade, and related incidents (medication timing/pharmacy errors, wait times) that appear relatively infrequent but noteworthy. Prospective residents and families should weigh the center’s strong clinical and environmental advantages against these operational concerns, and may wish to ask administrators about current staffing levels, medication management protocols, and any lingering COVID-related policies when making placement decisions.
