    Resort-like community with caring staff

I moved my mother to Cumberland Village and I couldn't be happier. The forested, resort-like grounds and renovated, mansion-like building are beautiful and well maintained, with walking trails, a pond and plenty of outdoor seating. Dining is excellent (restaurant-quality menus), there are nonstop activities, trips and a well-stocked library, and staff are genuinely caring, attentive and made the transition smooth. Utilities, meals, weekly housekeeping, laundry, transportation and 24/7 support are included, so she enjoys independent, worry-free living - we highly recommend a visit.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive. Reviewers repeatedly highlight Cumberland Hills (Cumberland Village) as a well-managed, welcoming assisted/independent living community with resort-like grounds and a warm, homey atmosphere. The property’s physical setting—large, wooded campus with walking trails, a pond, benches, and beautifully landscaped grounds—is a frequent point of praise. Interior common areas such as a recently renovated lobby, comfortable seating areas, multiple activity rooms and a large, well-stocked library contribute to a pleasant, resident-centred environment. Apartments and patio homes are described as spacious and comfortable, often with kitchens and good views.

Care quality and staff performance are the most consistently lauded themes. Reviews emphasize staff who are caring, attentive, friendly and professional—from front desk and maintenance to dining room servers and caregiving staff. Families report clear communication with management, smooth transitions during move-in, and staff who learn residents’ names and personal needs. Many reviewers note that staff go beyond expectations (helping move furniture, providing notary assistance, offering timely transport to medical appointments) and that maintenance and housekeeping services are reliable. The result is repeatedly described as peace of mind for families and improved quality of life for residents.

Dining and food service are also significant strengths in the reviews. Many call the dining experience "restaurant-quality," praising extensive menus, holiday meals, thoughtful options and attentive wait staff. Regular social dining patterns—such as encouragement to mix dining partners, special events with finger foods and drinks, and Wednesday Happy Hour—support both nutrition and socialization. That said, a small number of reviewers mention occasional issues with meal service (food not hot, long waits for lunch, incorrect orders). Those appear isolated compared with the overall volume of praise but are worth noting for operational attention.

Activity programming and social life are robust and varied. The community offers a wide array of activities—exercise classes, games (bingo, bridge, scrabble, MahJongg), aqua activities, pool access, day trips, shopping excursions, live music, Mix n Mingle nights, and transportation-supported outings. A dedicated social director and frequent reminders via multiple communication channels (in-person, email, social media) help sustain engagement. Residents and families frequently comment that the variety and accessibility of programming lead to strong friendships, a sense of belonging, and a lively community culture.

Management and administrative processes receive positive mention for professionalism and a non-pressure, supportive sales and intake experience. Reviewers describe a clear transition plan, prompt follow-through on promises, and good overall communication. On-site logistics—weekly housekeeping and laundry, landscaping and groundskeeping, beauty shop, and additional services—are cited as contributing to a low-stress, “worry-free” lifestyle. Security and safety are also repeatedly mentioned: 24/7 staff availability and round-the-clock presence give families reassurance.

Patterns and limitations: while most feedback is highly complimentary, there are a few recurring limitations to note. First, isolated dining service problems (temperature and wait times) appear in some reports and may point to occasional operational lapses during mealtimes. Second, the community is positioned primarily for independent and assisted-living level needs; at least one review indicates that residents who require continuous 24-hour skilled nursing care would not be well served here, implying that prospective residents should confirm care-level suitability before moving in. Finally, almost all commentary is positive; absence of comments on costs, availability, or transitional waitlists means prospective families should proactively ask about pricing, contracts and bed availability.

In summary, Cumberland Hills/Cumberland Village is portrayed across reviews as a top-tier, well-run community with exceptional staff, appealing grounds and facilities, high-quality dining, diverse activity options, strong family communication, and services that support independent living with available assistance. The overwhelming theme is that residents feel at home, safe and socially engaged, and families feel reassured. Prospective residents should visit to confirm specific apartment features and to discuss care-level needs and any operational details (mealtime logistics, contract terms) but can expect a community that ranks highly in staff responsiveness, amenities, activities and overall resident satisfaction.

    About Cumberland Hills Assisted Living

Cumberland Hills Assisted Living sits in Aiken, South Carolina, and offers independent and assisted living options in both apartments and patio homes, so folks can choose what suits them best, and you mostly see studio and one-bedroom units, all accessible and furnished with common amenities like cable, internet, and high-speed WiFi. The place's got licensed state certification, running under CRC-1121, with a full team of licensed nurses and caregivers on-site at all times, night or day, so there's always someone around to lend a hand with important stuff like bathing, grooming, dressing, and especially medication management, and for those who need it, memory care's available for people with Alzheimer's. Cumberland Hills takes care in planning out a lot of different activities and community events-game nights, music from resident-led groups, arts and crafts, and even story time-and you'll run into educational lectures and special outings organized by the full-time Life Enrichment Director, who keeps the calendar full with things like art workshops, water aerobics in the pool, trips to Hitchcock Woods or the local equestrian facilities, and visits from the Alliance of Therapy Dogs, which is a nice bit of comfort for animal lovers.

Some folks choose the independent living option, which means they can age in place with plenty of autonomy while still having help if they want it, and everyone enjoys access to the tidy outdoor patios, swimming pool and hot tub, landscaped grounds, and cheerful common rooms where television and socializing happen. Those who need extra support get help with activities of daily living-like transfers, bathing, dressing-as well as physical and occupational therapy from scheduled visiting professionals, and if someone just needs a short-term stay, short-term respite care's on offer too, aiming to keep routines comfortable. There are housekeeping, linen, laundry and dry cleaning services plus on-site beauty salon and barber visits, so folks can keep up their daily habits, with staff making an effort to respect each person's routines and dignity.

Dining's handled with three chef-prepared meals each day in the elegant dining room, and there are vegetarian options to suit different tastes. The building's secure, with an emergency call system, wheelchair-friendly layouts, and 24-hour supervision for peace of mind. People can bring pets if approved and guests are welcome, even for overnight stays, with special parking and arrangements. On top of all that, there's pharmacy service on site, transportation help for errands or shopping, and scheduled chauffeur services. The community accepts payment by check, card, or insurance, and starts with a $3,000 entry fee. Care plans stay personal to each resident, focused on letting everyone keep as much independence as they can, with the team quick to adapt as needs change, and the place feels home-like, trying to bring good days with social fun, learning, and friendships.
