    Caring staff, clean, dementia concerns

I toured and placed my mom here and overall I've been pleased - the staff are genuinely caring, knowledgeable and go above and beyond, the place is very clean and home-like, and the location is convenient (hospital/parking nearby). Dining is a strong point - good, consistent meals and a pleasant dining room - and activities are generally engaging, though offerings can be inconsistent. Room sizes and atmosphere vary widely (some spacious, some very small and a bit dark), and memory-care and dementia support have had notable gaps in experience and follow-through. Be aware of occasional staffing shortages/turnover, rising prices and that Medicaid may not be accepted. For many families this is an excellent, compassionate community; if dementia care is your primary need, ask detailed questions first.

    About Brookdale Conway

Brookdale Conway sits about a mile from Conway Medical Center in an upscale residential area near the Waccamaw National Wildlife Refuge, and you'll see right away they offer different types of care in one place with independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, memory care, adult day care, nursing and rehab, and even at-home care services for those who'd rather stay in their residence, and that's handy if someone's needs change over time because you don't have to move somewhere else for more help. The community has a warm, family-friendly atmosphere that feels homey, with staff around all day and night to help with daily tasks, emergencies, or just to make sure everybody's comfortable and well cared for, and they take safety seriously with an alert system through the building and controlled access. Apartments come as studio, one-bedroom, or two-bedroom layouts, and they include kitchenettes, full bathrooms, private walk-in closets, and emergency call systems, so seniors can pick what fits best, and there's 24-hour maintenance if anything goes wrong. The building itself has both indoor and outdoor common areas, like a sunroom or screened porch, a restaurant-style dining room with elegant linens, TV rooms, craft areas, a beautician and barber shop, plus outdoor courtyards, gardens, and walking trails, and you can bring a small pet if you can care for it, which is nice for folks who don't want to give up their furry companions. They keep the calendar full with social events, classes, happy hours, bingo, movies, resident socials, devotional services onsite and offsite, outings, and signature activities, so anybody wanting to stay active or meet new people has plenty of options, and they've won awards for their meals, dining, activities, and friendly environment. Other conveniences like free Wi-Fi, cable TV, laundry and housekeeping, resident parking, and transportation are available, which makes living day-to-day a bit easier, and if help is needed with meals, medications, bathing, or dressing, trained aides and nurses take care of that, while home care aides offer companionship and non-medical help to those living alone. Residents with memory care needs get support in safe, specially designed settings, and there are support groups for families and caregivers too. With a location close to hospitals, rehab centers, and local medical practitioners, it's easy to get to extra care if needed, and with all these services under one roof, things feel a little simpler and more settled for people as they age.

    About Brookdale

Brookdale Conway is managed by Brookdale.

Brookdale Senior Living Inc. (NYSE: BKD) is the largest senior living operator in the United States, managing over 640 communities with capacity for approximately 59,000 residents across 41 states and employing around 36,000 associates. Founded in 1978 and publicly traded since 2005, Brookdale solidified its market leadership through major acquisitions including American Retirement Corporation (2006) and Emeritus Senior Living (2014), making it the only national full-spectrum senior living company. Headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, Brookdale has topped the American Seniors Housing Association's ASHA 50 list and Argentum's largest providers list for multiple consecutive years.

The company's comprehensive care continuum includes independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs). Brookdale's signature Clare Bridge program, developed over 30 years ago by dementia-care experts, provides specialized Alzheimer's and dementia care through two distinct levels: Clare Bridge communities for comprehensive memory support and the Clare Bridge Solace program for advanced-stage dementia residents. The program is recognized by the Alzheimer's Association® for incorporating evidence-based Dementia Care Practice Recommendations and features secure environments, enclosed courtyards, Daily Path programming with six structured activities daily, and the InTouch technology platform offering personalized brain-stimulating games and therapeutic content.

Brookdale's holistic Optimum Life® wellness approach balances six dimensions—Purposeful, Physical, Emotional, Social, Spiritual, and Intellectual—implemented through signature programs including B-Fit (eight exercise class options), Brain Fit (mental fitness workouts), My Life Story (resident storytelling), EngagementPlus (interest-based connections), Growing Together (collaborative learning), and The Ageless Spirit (kindness and gratitude practices). The Embrace Family Partnership provides caregiver education and support for families of memory care residents.

The company's Brookdale HealthPlus® care coordination model, winner of the 2024 Argentum Best of the Best Award placing it among the top 1% of operators, is a technology-enabled healthcare service featuring dedicated RN Care Managers who proactively manage residents' health, coordinate care transitions, and help prevent avoidable hospitalizations. Communities using HealthPlus report 78% fewer urgent care visits, 36% fewer hospitalizations, and 63% more completed annual wellness visits. The Personal Solutions program delivers hygiene products, medications, and daily necessities directly to residents' doors with discreet packaging and monthly billing convenience.

Following a strategic divestiture of its home health and hospice operations to HCA Healthcare (completed December 2023), Brookdale now focuses exclusively on senior living operations while maintaining its position as the industry's largest operator, committed to its mission of enriching lives with compassion, respect, excellence, and integrity.
