    Neglectful, dirty, dishonest, unsafe care

I would not recommend this place. My experience was awful: rude, evasive and uncaring staff who left patients soiled, hungry and thirsty, delayed meds, caused injuries, and even stole personal items. The building was dirty (stained linens, roaches), food was cold/subpar, and billing/administration felt deceitful - I felt unsafe and had to move my loved one. A few people (Donna and some PTs) were kind, but overall the neglect and mistreatment were unacceptable.

    About ProMedica formally Heartland West

ProMedica formally Heartland West sits within the ProMedica healthcare network and offers a range of options for seniors needing different levels of support, from independent living to assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and even home care, so seniors can find the right balance of independence and care as their needs change, and they'll notice the focus on orthopaedic and musculoskeletal care, along with programs like Joint Replacement Support for those recovering from surgery, and the Omnicare Infusion eLearning Series, which helps teach staff through a hybrid method using online video lessons and training in the facility or pharmacy, and after staff complete training, they get an email confirmation, with registration needing a special code from leadership, and it usually takes about an hour. Memory care at this community uses secure environments and programs specifically made for folks with dementia or Alzheimer's, with 24-hour supervision and memory-support activities to help residents stay comfortable and safe, while the assisted living sections offer help with things like bathing, dressing, medication, meals, and personal care in a warm setting with social engagement, daily activities, and restaurant-style dining including diabetes and restricted diets. The community supports up to 125 residents in private or semi-private rooms with air conditioning, private bathrooms, and fresh linens, and there are shared spaces such as a beauty salon, barber, courtyard, gardens, wellness center, library, residents' lounge, fitness and gaming rooms, and a computer center for those who want them. Staffed by nurses for 12-16 hours a day with a doctor on-site, licensed physical, occupational, and speech therapists, as well as dieticians and social workers, the facility provides round-the-clock medical help for more serious medical needs, post-hospital care, rehabilitation, wound care, and therapies focused on helping folks return home when possible. Residents get nutritious meals prepared with health in mind, can choose respite care for short-term support, and enjoy community-sponsored activities, planned day trips, social gatherings, and even help with transportation. There are advanced rehabilitation machines and specialized support for hip and knee replacement recovery, with therapy teams working on personalized recovery so everyone has a chance to do their best. Housekeeping, laundry, maintenance, and 24-hour call systems keep things running smoothly and safe, while awards like Best of Senior Living and All-Star recognition show people appreciate the care they receive, and folks often mention how helpful and joyful the staff are, creating a welcoming atmosphere where residents don't just get by, but feel comfortable, connected, and respected every day.
