    Compassionate staff, clean, highly recommended

I placed my loved one here and I'm very pleased - compassionate, professional staff; outstanding meals; tons of activities; spotless facility with inviting porches, courtyards and roomy apartments. The team made the move smooth, are available after hours, and have given me real peace of mind. Be aware it's expensive, parts of the building are older, and we had occasional billing/communication hiccups; it may not suit certain medical needs (e.g., ostomy care). Overall I highly recommend it if you can afford it - my family member is happy and engaged.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment: Reviews of Lancaster Grove Senior Living are overwhelmingly positive, with many families and residents describing the community as exceptional, well-run, and life-enhancing. The most common themes are praise for staff quality, outstanding dining, abundant social and recreational programming, attractive grounds and interiors, and a smooth transition process. Many reviewers explicitly recommend the community and cite the experience as the best among assisted living options they considered.

Staff and care quality: Staff performance is the single most consistently praised element. Reviewers use terms such as courteous, compassionate, attentive, professional, and family-like to describe caregivers, nurses, and management. Leadership is highlighted by name — administrator Trevonda (and staff member Mica in activity planning) receive multiple commendations for being approachable, available, and proactive. Families note 24/7 supervision, responsive after-hours availability, and frequent, clear communication from staff. Therapists and activity staff are credited with helping residents stay active and engaged. Multiple accounts indicate long-tenured staff and a teamwork culture that goes "above and beyond," contributing to peace of mind for families. A minority of reviews mention isolated lapses in communication or a negative overall experience, but these appear infrequent compared with the large volume of positive feedback.

Facilities and environment: Lancaster Grove is repeatedly described as clean, well-maintained, and attractive — some reviewers liken the dining room to a country club and the facility to a five-star resort. Specific physical attributes cited include an inviting atrium with garden, multiple courtyards, outdoor porches and terraces (rocking chairs on porches are noted), freshly painted apartments, spacious floor plans, and large walk-in closets. Common areas such as recreation rooms, lobbies, and front porches receive consistent praise for being welcoming and home-like. A few reviewers note older building sections or less-impressive rooms and express preference for cottages or different layouts; these comments suggest some variability in unit quality across the property.

Dining and meals: Dining is another standout area. Reviewers frequently call the meals outstanding or the best in town, praising talented chefs, freshly prepared and customizable meals, and a pleasant dining room atmosphere. Some describe the dining experience as resort-style or country-club-like. However, a small number of comments mention restrictive dining times or limited menus during certain periods, and one tour review noted that food samples were not offered; these are isolated relative to the widespread praise.

Activities, social life, and engagement: The community offers a broad and active calendar — puzzles, bingo, crafts, exercise classes, outings and field trips, singing and group entertainment, and church/devotion times are commonly mentioned. Reviewers consistently say residents are engaged, happy, and make friends quickly. The life-enrichment programming and frequent outings receive strong endorsement as contributors to residents' quality of life.

Memory care and clinical concerns: Lancaster Grove has a dedicated memory care/dementia wing that reviewers say provides closer attention and suitable monitoring. Families report strong supervision, improved well-being, and skilled handling of cognitive needs. Therapists and nursing staff are mentioned positively for keeping residents active and safe. Still, some reviews raise safety concerns about wandering residents — an issue worth noting for prospective families evaluating memory-care risk mitigation measures.

Operational, administrative, and financial issues: Management and administration are mostly praised for proactive problem resolution, good family communication, and ease of admission. Several reviewers highlight smooth move-ins, staff assembling beds and assisting with logistics, and sensitivity to family needs. Conversely, recurring cons relate to cost and billing: multiple reviews say the community is expensive or not affordable without specific long-term care coverage. There are also specific complaints about reimbursement delays or denials, inflexible notice policies, and at least one billing dispute. Prospective residents should clarify pricing, insurance reimbursement details, and notice/billing terms before committing.

Negative or mixed feedback: While the majority of comments are positive, there are a few recurring negatives to consider. Some reviewers experienced poor staff communication or an unprofessional tour (one mentioned being shown around by a janitor). A handful of reviews describe rooms that felt dated, lacked amenities, or required residents to bring all furniture. There are reports of room sharing in some cases and assertions that the facility was misrepresented (assisted living vs. nursing home) or not suitable for certain medical needs such as ostomy care. COVID-related visitation restrictions were also mentioned by some reviewers, reflecting pandemic-era impacts. These items appear relatively uncommon but important to verify during a visit and in contract discussions.

Patterns and recommendation guidance: The dominant pattern is a community with high marks for staff, dining, engagement, cleanliness, and atmosphere — a place many families call "the best decision" and "highly recommended." The recurring caveats are cost, occasional administrative/billing friction, and variability among individual rooms or building sections. Prospective residents should prioritize an in-person tour (confirm who will conduct it), ask pointed questions about memory-care safety protocols (wandering prevention, monitoring), verify medical suitability for specific conditions (e.g., ostomy care), and obtain clear written details on pricing, reimbursement procedures, notice requirements, and what is furnished in apartments. If budget and clinical needs align with what Lancaster Grove offers, reviewers overwhelmingly indicate it is a strong choice that provides excellent food, rich social programming, and caring, professional staff.
