    Beautiful facility with caring staff

I toured and moved my parent into Arbor Landing and I couldn't be happier - the building is beautiful, brand-new, immaculately clean and tastefully decorated with spacious rooms and lovely common areas. The staff are the heart of the place: warm, attentive, responsive and genuinely caring, which made the transition smooth and reassuring. There are lots of activities (including thoughtful Memory Care engagement), on-site therapy/pharmacy options and nice amenities like gardens, library and games rooms. Meals are generally good but could be hotter and more varied, and I did notice some weekend understaffing and that costs can feel high for some families. Overall, my parent is settled and engaged - I'd recommend Arbor Landing.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive, with an overwhelming emphasis on the staff as the defining strength of Arbor Landing at Pawleys. Reviewers repeatedly report that caregivers are compassionate, attentive and form personal relationships with residents; multiple staff members are named and singled out for exceptional care. The language used by many reviewers—"staff is the soul of Arbor Landing," "treats everyone like family," and "guardian angels"—highlights a consistent perception that employees go above and beyond to create a warm, supportive, and home-like environment. Several reviewers specifically note that their family members quickly felt at home and became more engaged and well cared for after moving in.

Facility and amenity quality are frequently praised. The community is described as brand-new or recently opened, immaculately clean, beautifully decorated and meticulously maintained. Reviewers mention attractive common areas (library, media room, dining room, garden atriums), outdoor spaces (courtyards and putting green), and well-designed private rooms. The aesthetic and upkeep contribute to a "5-star resort" vibe that many families appreciated on tours. Several specific amenities—on-site pharmacy, on-site therapy department, games rooms and fitness areas—are cited as value-adding features that support resident health and convenience.

Activity programming and memory care engagement receive strong positive mentions. Activity directors are recognized for thoughtfully planning monthly calendars and for engaging memory care residents. Fitness classes, social events and a robust calendar of activities contribute to resident socialization and improved quality of life for many. That said, a few reviewers called for broader activity options tailored to early-onset Alzheimer’s residents, indicating an opportunity to diversify programming to reach younger or more active memory care residents.

Dining and food quality are mixed themes. Many reviewers compliment the meals as healthy and enjoyable and describe dining as a social highlight. Multiple mentions of a new head chef indicate attention to improving the dining experience. However, several families noted that meals could be more varied, served hotter, or improved in overall quality. This appears to be an area where expectations are high but experiences vary; the facility has acknowledged the issue (new chef) and some reviewers express hope for improvement.

Operations, management and communications are generally lauded. Families report responsive, communicative staff and administration; some reviewers describe detailed, helpful tours and informative follow-up that helped them make confident placement decisions. Clinical leadership is a noted strength—reviewers point out that the executive director is a registered nurse and that hospice and therapy supports are readily available. Practical services such as daily housekeeping, weekly deep cleaning, laundry, included transportation and easy move-in experiences were cited frequently as convenience benefits.

Notable patterns of concern are limited but important. Several reviews mention mixed staff quality—while many employees are exceptional, a few caregivers were described as less consistent. Weekends appear to be a recurrent pressure point: some reviewers experienced absent weekend management or understaffing. Safety concerns surfaced in at least one report of jewelry theft or resident vulnerability, which families should investigate further during a tour or intake conversation. Cost is another recurring theme: while some families felt the pricing was fair or cheaper than 24-hour care, others found it prohibitive. Location is an occasional limitation for families who live farther away. Finally, the community’s status as a newer property means reviewers see room for expansion of services and occasional growing pains; one family reported an admission denial due to scope-of-care limitations, signaling that highly specialized nursing needs may not be met on-site.

In summary, Arbor Landing at Pawleys receives strong praise for its compassionate, resident-centered staff, immaculate and attractive facility, comprehensive amenities and active programming, especially in memory care. Communication and transition support are highlighted strengths, along with clinical leadership and on-site services such as therapy and pharmacy. Families considering this community should verify specifics around dining preferences, weekend staffing levels, activity offerings for early-onset memory care, security procedures, exact costs and any scope-of-care limitations to ensure their loved one’s needs are met. Overall, the reviews portray a warm, well-run community where staff dedication and beautiful surroundings create a high quality of life for most residents, tempered by a few operational and service areas that could be improved as the community continues to grow.

    About Arbor Landing at Pawleys

Arbor Landing at Pawleys stands out as the newest assisted living community in northeastern South Carolina, set in a calm coastal area that helps everyone feel at ease and connected, and you'll notice the homey setting as soon as you walk in, with cozy sitting areas, wingback chairs, coastal artwork, and comfortable lighting everywhere you look. The staff, led by Executive Director Anita Williams, who's a trained social worker with more than 20 years of experience, puts a lot of emphasis on care over fancy extras, and they focus on keeping seniors safe, healthy, and happy, with a team of caregivers who knows their job well and treats residents like family. The community provides a full range of living options, including independent living for those who want their own space, assisted living with help available for daily activities, and a secure Memory Care neighborhood called Horizons that's designed for folks living with dementia or Alzheimer's, plus there's skilled nursing and continuing care that adjusts as needs change, all in one place so you don't have to move again.

Apartments are available in both private and semi-private layouts, with comfort and safety in mind, and all have individually controlled heat and air, tiled bathrooms with grab bars and roll-in showers, walk-in closets, and some come with kitchenettes, so folks can choose what works best for them. The common areas feature comfortable seating, tasteful decor, and dining rooms with rustic tables, built-in shelving, fireplaces, and big windows that let in lots of light, while daily life can include chef-prepared meals, housekeeping, and activities meant to enrich and build a sense of community. Arbor Landing includes special programs like SafelyYou that uses AI video and clinical support to help prevent and manage falls, which can be a real comfort for families and residents concerned about safety.

Bathrooms and living areas are designed to be accessible, and everything throughout the building is set up for seniors, with the goal of helping people feel at home no matter how much help they need, and the Memory Care section has consistent routines and meaningful activities to support memory and well-being. Residents who don't need much help can enjoy independent living, while those who need more care can get personalized help with things like medication, bathing, and dressing as needed, and for folks looking for something in between, assisted living and respite stays are also available. The whole community has a warm, welcoming atmosphere, and there's a focus on making sure everyone can live with dignity, stay as independent as possible, and feel comfortable and supported as time goes on.
