    Nice facility but inconsistent services

I like the beautiful facility, spacious apartments, and the many amenities (pool, gym, library, game room, theater) - the atmosphere is friendly and activities are plentiful. My main complaints are the hit-or-miss meals (limited menus, iceberg lettuce and canned veggies), inconsistent maintenance, high staff/management turnover since the merger, and yearly rent increases.

About Good Samaritan Society - Prairie Creek

Good Samaritan Society - Prairie Creek sits in Sioux Falls, SD, and gives seniors different ways to live, from independent and assisted living to memory care and even nursing home services, all in a retirement community. The campus bustles with people and activities, with options like senior apartments, twin homes, and memory care assisted living, and offers affordable housing too. Staff are trained to help with daily needs like bathing, dressing, grooming, medication support, and even helping folks move from bed to wheelchair, and they keep an eye on things like insulin for diabetes. Someone's always there since staff are on hand 24 hours a day in case of emergencies. Residents get meals that take away the worry of cooking and enjoy access to dining spaces, a fitness center, indoor common areas, a game room, and places to gather with friends and neighbors. The community offers arts and crafts, health and wellness programs, education, and many ways to stay active and social, along with occupational therapy and outpatient rehab for people who need extra help. Nurses provide wound care, podiatry, and other healthcare, and each person gets a care plan that fits what they need, which can change as they get older. Prairie Creek's building keeps safety in mind with features like handicap access, sprinkler systems, and other safety supports, and rooms often have kitchens or kitchenettes, washers and dryers in the units, cable TV, Wi-Fi, and maintenance and housekeeping, so folks can feel comfortable. The campus offers transportation for people to get around town, and there are privacy policies and clear move-in and waiting list procedures. Staff know how to work with memory care residents and offer help with walking, wheelchairs, bathing, and toileting when needed. Long-term care insurance is accepted, and families can talk with staff about options and different care levels during a scheduled assessment. Being part of the Good Samaritan Society network, this place aims to support the body, mind, and spirit, and all the services and social activities are meant to help older adults feel as at home as possible.
