Canterbury Place - A Wesley Living Community has assisted living, independent living, and memory care options for seniors aged 60 and up. The building stays on one level, making it easy for residents to get around, and every resident gets a private room with a private bath, big windows, roomy closets, and their own climate controls, which really makes things feel homey and comfortable and there's wheelchair accessible showers for those who need them. Meals, including vegetarian options, come three times a day and snacks are always available if folks get hungry. There's a focus on personal care with help for bathing, dressing, eating, and medication monitoring, and folks who need special attention for diabetes, incontinence, or other health concerns have support from staff 24 hours a day, with nurses, a doctor, and a dentist on call if anything comes up.
The staff at Canterbury Place are trained in dementia care and always look for ways to help each person do as much for themselves as they can, but they're there for things like laundry, housekeeping, and meal prep, which takes a load off. Residents can bring a cat or a dog, as pets are welcome, and there's plenty of parking, including transportation to appointments, errands, and outings so people can still get around in town or join lunch trips. Activities fill the days with crafts, exercise classes, arts, games, worship, clubs, and plenty of outings to local places, so seniors have no trouble keeping active and meeting their neighbors, and there's a community center with a big TV, a Wii, and space for events. Canterbury Place keeps a non-smoking policy inside, and there's both indoor and outdoor areas for relaxing or visiting.
Unique services include Golden Cross Senior Ministry Support, so residents in need can get emergency financial help or join special holiday meals, and there's a service coordinator on site who helps everyone connect with local services and makes sure no one falls through the cracks with housing, health care, or financial support. There's group exercise classes, health and wellness programs, and support for Alzheimer's and dementia all taught by people who know what they're doing, and the staff handles everything from helping move someone from bed to wheelchair, to monitoring health and medicines, to arranging hospice or respite stays if someone needs short-term care. Living spaces include apartments and private units, with gathering rooms and a library for visits or quiet time, and safety stays top of mind with emergency call lights in each room and bath, plus staff always available in case of emergencies. All this takes place in a warm setting owned by Wesley-Asbury, a non-profit tied to local churches, where folks can take part in devotional services, get a haircut at the salon or barber, and feel at home while still having help right there when it's needed.
