    Clean, caring staff but pricey

I placed my loved one here because the community is very clean, bright and updated, with comfortable rooms and genuinely caring, knowledgeable staff who made us feel safe and at home. The dining choices are healthy and the dining area is pleasant, but the food isn't always impressive; activities and outings exist but can be limited. Staff are often wonderful and attentive-especially in memory care-but I've seen understaffing, inconsistent caregiving, and occasional unprofessional behavior. It's a lovely, well-run place overall, but pricey and not without some important caveats.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment: The reviews for Brookdale Greeneville are predominantly positive, with a clear and recurring emphasis on the quality of caregiving and the warm, family-like atmosphere. Many reviewers highlight compassionate, attentive and well-trained staff — particularly CNAs and memory-care team members — who are described as loving, personalized in their approach, and responsive to residents’ needs. Multiple family members explicitly state that their loved ones are safe, well-fed, medicated correctly and happy, and many reviewers strongly recommend the community.

Care quality and staff: The most consistent strength across the reviews is staff behavior and caregiving. Caregivers are repeatedly called kind, considerate, and willing to go above and beyond. Dementia and memory-care staff receive particular praise for individualized attention and emotional warmth; reviewers note staff familiarity with residents’ preferences and responsiveness during difficult times. Several reviewers also praise the executive director and management for keeping families informed and addressing concerns promptly. That said, there are recurring notes about understaffing and isolated incidents of apathy or staff not following rules. A small number of reviews report serious concerns including unprofessional behavior and alleged harassment, which contrast sharply with the majority of positive staff-related comments.

Facilities and environment: Many reviewers describe the facility as clean, attractive, and newer-looking with bright, sunny common areas. Amenities frequently mentioned include private/studio rooms (some with in-room microwaves and fridges), a gym, activities room, chapel, and comfortable dining areas. Multiple families note a home-like vibe and an environment that boosts residents’ morale. However, there is some variability: while many say the facility is very clean and well-maintained, a minority state it was not very clean in their experience, indicating inconsistent standards across units or shifts.

Dining and services: Dining receives mixed but generally favorable feedback. Numerous reviewers appreciate that meals are prepared on-site, offer choices, and accommodate special diets (including vegetarian and tailored dementia diets). Positive comments cite attentive cooks and good presentation. Conversely, some reviewers found the food underwhelming or served cold (cold sandwiches cited), and a few described meals as not particularly tasty despite being healthy. Services such as laundry, medication management and housekeeping are available, though housekeeping delays are mentioned by some families.

Activities and social program: Activity programming is another commonly praised area. Reviewers report a broad variety of daytime activities — bingo, arts and crafts (resident artwork displayed), themed events, wind-chime activities, and regular outings/weekly field trips — that lead to improved socialization and friendships. These programs are described as thoughtful and morale-boosting. A few reviewers, however, felt activity levels were low and that the community was quieter than expected, pointing again to variability in programming or participation.

Management, communication and admissions: Several accounts single out management and marketing staff for calm, caring and communicative interactions; many families felt reassured and supported. Positive admissions/respite experiences are reported. On the negative side, there are complaints about aggressive sales practices, frequent follow-up calls after a decline, and instances where advertisements or promises did not match lived reality. Availability can also be an issue: some families were told there were no openings. Front desk responsiveness is another area with mixed feedback — some praise ease of contact, others cite unresponsiveness.

Costs and fit: Cost is a consistent concern. Multiple reviewers describe Brookdale Greeneville as expensive, note price increases, or have chosen to move to more affordable options. Additionally, 'fit' is an important theme: while many residents thrive, a minority of families found the location or level of care not ideal for their loved ones (e.g., memory-care accommodations not adequate, bed placement compromises, or small rooms). These points suggest that prospective families should carefully evaluate room sizes, memory-care specifics, and total cost when considering placement.

Patterns and recommendations: The dominant pattern is strong praise for the caregiving staff, a warm and clean environment, and robust activities that promote resident engagement — leading many reviewers to highly recommend Brookdale Greeneville. However, the reviews also show variability in experience tied to staffing levels, unit-specific conditions, food quality, and occasional management or sales-process issues. To prospective families: visit multiple times, meet direct-care staff on different shifts, ask specific questions about memory-care arrangements, housekeeping schedules, staffing ratios, and cost escalation policies. Address any reports of unprofessional behavior directly during the tour and request references from current families if possible. For Brookdale Greeneville leadership: maintaining consistency in cleanliness, meal quality, housekeeping responsiveness, and reducing aggressive sales tactics would address the most common concerns raised while preserving the facility’s strong caregiver reputation.
