    Very happy resident, great amenities

I live here and overall I'm very happy - the staff are exceptional: warm, helpful and welcoming, and move-in, housekeeping and maintenance have been smooth. The facility is beautiful and modern with excellent amenities (theater, fitness/pickleball, dog park, big outdoor spaces, in-unit kitchens and washer/dryer, roomy apartments and balconies) and strong social opportunities. Dining and kitchen service can be inconsistent - sometimes excellent, sometimes cold/repetitive - and there are occasional communication hiccups; there are no on-site medical services and some showers aren't fully handicapped-accessible. Despite being a bit pricey, it's a great fit for independent living and I would recommend it.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive about Everlan of Hixson, with recurrent praise for the facility's appearance, staff, amenities, and the social life available to independent-living residents. Many reviewers call the building beautiful, modern, and well appointed — several explicitly noting it is new (about two years old) and state-of-the-art. The physical amenities receive frequent favorable mention: an in-house theater (noted detail: swivel chairs), pool table, exercise room, pickleball/tennis area, a pleasant courtyard and large back deck, and central communal spaces that promote interaction. Multiple reviewers highlight apartment features they appreciate such as full kitchens, in-unit washers/dryers, walk-in closets and showers, balconies on two-bedroom units, and generally bright, spacious floorplans. Housekeeping and maintenance services are generally described as convenient and included, and on-site services like a beauty shop and transportation to appointments are seen as valuable conveniences.

Staff and care-related feedback is a major strength in these reviews. The staff are repeatedly described as friendly, warm, caring, helpful, and accommodating — with explicit praise for going above and beyond for residents and families. Several reviews singled out positive tour experiences (one named staff member: Jackie) and noted a smooth, welcoming move-in process. Residents and families reported that staff are attentive to health and behavioral changes, creating a sense of safety and peace of mind. The social programing and activities are another frequently cited positive: reviewers report excellent activities, learning opportunities, and strong social networks among residents, which many say contributes to satisfaction and an improved quality of life.

Dining is one of the clearest mixed themes. Some reviewers praise the food and service, calling the dining "excellent" or "top-notch," and noting friendly waitstaff and good meals (including specific favorable mentions like catfish dinners). However, a notable subset of reviews raise consistent complaints about food quality and variety: descriptions include repetitive menus, under-seasoned or poor-quality dishes, meals served cold, orders served incorrectly or missing items, and inconsistent staffing or chef turnover that appears to have degraded dining quality over time. Some reviewers say issues have been reported but not resolved, and a few explicitly avoid the dining room as a result. The operational pattern appears to be variability rather than uniform failure: some residents are very happy with meals while others are repeatedly disappointed.

Operational and management patterns are also mixed. Positives include helpful maintenance and housekeeping, same-day service in some cases, and an overall accommodating culture. At the same time, there are recurring operational concerns: inconsistent communication or unreturned calls were reported by some family members, and a few reviews mentioned uncomfortable interactions with specific maintenance staff. Staffing inconsistency in the restaurant and kitchen was a repeated issue tied to dining complaints. Reviewers advise performing due diligence — asking questions and monitoring the restaurant and communications — before deciding. There are also comments about scale: the facility is described as larger, which some view as a benefit (more amenities) while others compare it unfavorably against smaller communities with a different "wow factor." A few reviewers described the community as "upscale" or emphasized a wealth requirement, indicating that cost and exclusivity could be potential barriers.

Accessibility, services, and practical considerations are important patterns to note. Multiple reviewers emphasize that Everlan of Hixson is an independent-living community without on-site medical or assisted living services, so it may not suit someone who will soon need higher-level medical care. Some bathrooms were reported as not consistently handicapped-accessible, so unit selection should be done carefully if mobility or accessible bathing is required. Efficiency units were criticized for being small, lacking balconies, and having limited closet space; prospective residents should inspect floorplans in person. There is no swimming pool, and while the location is convenient relative to some amenities, several reviewers said walkability is poor and driving is required to reach grocery stores and other services.

In summary, Everlan of Hixson receives strong praise for its modern facility, abundant amenities, active social life, and — above all — its caring and responsive staff. These strengths make it an attractive option for independent seniors seeking an active, secure, and service-rich environment. The most consistent concerns relate to cost, dining variability and staffing, occasional communication lapses, and limited on-site medical services or universal bathroom accessibility. Prospective residents should be especially diligent about reviewing dining options and staffing stability, verifying accessibility features for their needs, and confirming costs/eligibility. For independent-living candidates who value robust amenities, friendly staff, and an active community — and who can accommodate the price — reviewers overwhelmingly indicate Everlan of Hixson is a very positive choice.
