    Warm compassionate community, occasional issues

I'm overall pleased - the staff are warm, caring and go above and beyond, the building is clean and well maintained, meals are homecooked and activities are plentiful, and the location and apartments are convenient. It can be expensive with extra fees (pets, à la carte), and there have been staffing/training hiccups - short-staffing, turnover and a few safety/medication incidents - so stay involved with care. Despite that, I would recommend it for its compassionate, family-like community and good quality of life.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews for Wilson Manor is predominantly positive in areas of environment, social life, and interpersonal care, but punctuated by serious safety and clinical concerns reported by several families. Many reviewers emphasize that the facility is clean, attractively decorated, and home-like, with renovated rooms, pleasant common areas, and a welcoming, family-style atmosphere. Management and the director receive high marks from multiple families for being personable, helpful, and responsive. The location and physical comfort of the building are appreciated, and pets are allowed (with noted fees), which is a plus for families seeking pet-friendly options.

Staff behavior and resident interactions are frequently described as compassionate, respectful, and attentive. Numerous accounts describe aides and nurses who go “above and beyond,” treat residents with dignity, and form warm relationships with families. Housekeeping and overall facility maintenance are often praised as very good to excellent. Activities programming is a clear strength: reviewers cite varied activities, regular outings (shopping, lunch trips, local entertainment), bingo, and engagement tailored to residents’ interests, contributing to a lively social environment.

Dining at Wilson Manor is a commonly mentioned theme with mixed but generally favorable commentary. A large number of reviewers call the food “incredible,” “homecooked,” and well-presented, with specialty-diet meals available and a formal dining setting that many enjoy. A smaller but notable subset of reviews describe meals as poor, insufficiently nutritious, or needing larger portions—especially at night—so food quality appears to be inconsistent or perceived differently by different residents.

The most significant concerns center on clinical safety, medication management, and staffing. Several reviews report medication errors, including an instance where insulin was reportedly given without checking blood sugar, nurse dosing not matching doctor orders, and other medication administration mistakes. There are also reports of falls that were not checked promptly, delayed responses, and at least one severe medical incident involving extremely high blood sugar and low blood pressure that led to ICU hospitalization. These are critical safety issues and create a strong contrast with the otherwise caring culture described by many reviewers.

Staffing and training are recurring cross-cutting issues. While many families find staff compassionate and capable, others note short-staffing, high turnover, and a need for better training—especially among techs and aides—leading to inconsistent care quality across shifts. Concerns about staff compensation and benefits are mentioned as potential contributors to turnover. Some reviews also note occasional unprofessional behavior or attitudes from particular employees.

Operational and affordability matters appear in several reviews. Many families consider Wilson Manor good value for the amenities and social environment offered, and move-in processes and communication are often praised. However, other reviewers cite cost as a barrier, report extra a la carte fees, notable pet deposits and monthly pet fees, and rent levels that were unaffordable for some. Minor operational complaints include occasional laundry issues, crowded or older sections that could use updates or deep cleaning, and intermittent housekeeping snags.

Overall, Wilson Manor presents as a well-kept, socially active, and warmly managed community with strong marks for atmosphere, activities, and many residents’ satisfaction with staff and food. However, the presence of several serious safety and clinical complaints—especially involving medication administration, monitoring of vitals, and fall response—means prospective residents and families should perform targeted due diligence. Suggested questions for prospective families include asking about medication administration protocols, nurse oversight and shift staffing ratios, staff training and turnover rates, fall monitoring and response procedures, incident reporting practices, and detailed breakdowns of fees and meal policies. Verifying care during different shifts and discussing how the community addresses clinical errors and staff retention will help balance the strong cultural and amenity advantages against the important safety concerns raised in the reviews.

    About Wilson Manor

Wilson Manor sits on a wide 15-acre property in Lebanon, Tennessee, right behind the City Park and Lebanon Golf Course, and the place is full of trees with walking trails and a new Community Center nearby. This senior living community covers a lot of needs, with assisted living, memory care, independent living, respite stays, and nursing home care all on one campus. Wilson Manor belongs to the Viva Senior Living family and offers care programs with their own unique names, friendly staff on-site at all times, and a warm, welcoming environment that feels like a real home for older adults.

Residents pick from studio or one-bedroom apartments, which come with emergency alert systems and suite layouts designed for comfort and safety, and they're welcome to bring their own furniture to make things feel more like home. Many rooms have wheelchair accessible showers, and common areas include furnished dining rooms, activity rooms, indoor community spaces with fireplaces, a game room, and a library. There's an on-site beauty and barber shop for personal grooming, with beautician services and home-cooked meals prepared by professional chefs. Residents enjoy dietary accommodations, personal laundry service, and can use the complimentary transportation for errands or medical appointments.

The staff at Wilson Manor help residents with daily living tasks like bathing, dressing, medication management, transfers, incontinence care, diabetes care, and more, all day and night, using a complete 24-hour call system and ongoing supervision, and there's an on-site physician, with health supervision plus on-site lab work and X-rays. Physical, occupational, and speech therapies are available along with pharmaceutical services and incontinence products. Wilson Manor offers hospice services for end-of-life care, and short-term respite stays if seniors need recovery help or caregivers need relief.

Memory care programs at Wilson Manor support seniors with Alzheimer's or other dementias, focusing on routines to reduce confusion and keep residents safe from wandering, and all care plans follow what each person requires. The activity schedule stays full with social, educational, and recreational activities-including happy hours, dance or theater shows, karaoke, trivia games, birthday celebrations, and more. Every month brings a new batch of holiday meals, family events, devotionals or church services, and social times like bingo, singing, movie nights, crafts, or ice cream socials. Therapy dogs visit from time to time, and internet is available in common spaces or apartments.

The campus keeps everything senior-friendly with pet policies, wheelchair access, transportation, parking, fitness classes, a daily exercise program, scheduled events, resident-led activities, and services like mail coordination and concierge help. Independent living options let residents focus on the things they love while someone else handles meals and chores, and the community encourages friendships and family visits. Wilson Manor works hard to create comfort, safety, and support whether someone needs active help every day or just wants a safe place to call home with flexible services and friendly faces always nearby.
