    Compassionate care, poor phone responsiveness

I'm a family member of a resident and glad we chose this nursing home/rehab. The facility is well-kept, leadership is strong, and staff are compassionate and often amazing with solid COVID-19 precautions - my only gripe is poor phone responsiveness and the occasional standoffish staff. Overall they treat my loved one pretty well and it feels family-like.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment from the reviews of Cherrywood Post Acute is predominantly positive, with multiple reviewers emphasizing a well-maintained facility, strong infection-control measures, and high-quality caregiving. Many comments specifically praise the staff as compassionate, excellent, and amazing, and at least one review explicitly identifies strong administrator leadership. The facility is also described as having a family-like atmosphere, and several reviewers express that they or their loved ones are glad to be there. These repeated positive notes point to generally solid clinical and day-to-day care, particularly in a nursing/rehab context.

Care quality and clinical services emerge as a clear strength. Reviewers identify the location as a capable nursing home and rehabilitation provider, and remarks such as "compassionate care" and "treated pretty good" indicate that residents receive attentive personal and medical support. The praise for staff compassion and competence suggests that hands-on caregiving — assistance with activities of daily living, therapy/rehab interactions, and bedside manner — is viewed favorably by many families and residents.

Staffing impressions are mixed but lean positive. Several reviews laud staff members as "excellent" and "amazing," contributing to a family-like environment and a sense of comfort for residents. At the same time, there are signs of inconsistency in interpersonal interactions: one review characterizes the staff as "decent but standoffish." This indicates variability in staff demeanor or in the experiences of different families and shifts. The administrator and leadership are singled out positively, which may support overall culture and operations even when individual staff interactions vary.

Facility condition and safety practices are distinct positives. Reviewers describe the site as "well-kept," and strong COVID-19 precautions were explicitly noted. These points suggest that the facility invests in cleanliness, maintenance, and infection control practices — important factors for both current residents and families evaluating the environment for long-term stays or rehab stays.

Communication and responsiveness are the primary areas of concern. Multiple comments highlight problems: "no one answers the phone" and "poor staff responsiveness" were specifically mentioned. These complaints point to operational or administrative gaps in how calls and inquiries are handled, and to occasional delays or unresponsiveness from staff. While not everyone reported these issues, the recurrence of similar complaints indicates a notable pattern that can undermine otherwise positive impressions, particularly for families who rely on timely updates and easy access to staff.

Notably absent from the reviews provided are details on dining quality, specific activities or programming, and measurable outcomes of rehab therapy. Because those areas are not referenced, no strong conclusions can be drawn about them from these summaries. In sum, Cherrywood Post Acute appears to offer a well-maintained, safety-conscious environment with compassionate clinical care and supportive leadership, but it may have inconsistent staff interpersonal behaviors and some operational communication issues (telephone responsiveness) that prospective families should consider and, if possible, verify directly during a visit or by speaking to current residents and families.

    About Cherrywood Post Acute

Cherrywood Post Acute sits at 175 Hospital Dr, McKenzie, TN 38201, right where folks might need care after a hospital stay or for ongoing medical help, since it's a post-acute care facility that provides skilled nursing, short-term rehabilitation, and a range of services for recovery from illness, surgery, or injury, always working from a physician's own care plan and keeping licensed nurses on staff day and night. The nursing team, including RNs, LVNs, and CNAs, is known for skill and experience, and there's a special focus on person-centered care with plenty of kindness and respect mixed in, and the staff works to keep things personal and flexible for every patient. Cherrywood Post Acute holds a 4-Star Medicare rating, which means it's rated above average by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services on things like safety and staffing, and you can find more about it or even take a virtual photo tour at www.cherrywoodpa.com to get a look at their big rehab gym and comfortable shared spaces before going in person.

Recovery services stretch across physical, occupational, speech, and respiratory therapy, with rehabilitation provided every day of the week, so patients aiming to return home can work toward that at a steady pace, and the center also offers social services to help both patients and families prepare for leaving or find other support, plus daily activities for a range of interests, with a calendar always posted in each patient's room. Cherrywood keeps gardens and open common areas where patients and families can visit or simply sit outside if they feel up to it, keeping things relaxed and homelike as they go along. Restaurant-style dining is available, using meal plans set by a full-time, in-house Registered Dietitian, with nutritious options catered to each person's dietary needs.

For privacy and safety, Cherrywood Post Acute strictly follows all federal and state laws on health information, maintains strict confidentiality, and has set up ways for patients to see or correct their own records, request certain limits on information sharing, and even file complaints if needed, all managed by a designated privacy officer, who is the Administrator. They have systems to keep health data secure, proper protocols if there's ever a breach, detailed rules for sharing data with doctors, insurers, or in situations like disasters, and clear steps for including patients' information in hospital directories or for things like public safety, law enforcement, legal matters, organ donation, and research, only sharing what's necessary or allowed by law or patient choice.

The facility also keeps up a clean and good-looking environment thanks to a careful housekeeping crew, attentive building and grounds maintenance, and a dietary team bringing meals and snacks that fit each resident's health needs, which is especially important when healing. There's a business office ready to help with finances, billing, records, and insurance, and Cherrywood accepts private pay, Medicare, Medicaid, and most major health plans including PPOs and HMOs like Cigna and Humana, so most people have payment options. Team members can use the Employee Assistance Program, and get benefits like health, dental, vision, short- and long-term disability, life insurance, critical illness insurance, 401(k) matching, flexible scheduling, and opportunities for job growth and training, and the facility even provides Certified Nursing Assistant training to support staff advancement.

Cherrywood Post Acute takes disease prevention seriously, following COVID-19 and other infection control guidelines closely, using proper PPE such as N95 masks, gloves, and gowns where needed, and putting a dedicated infection prevention nurse in place to watch over these protocols. The leadership team believes in high-quality skilled nursing and rehab care, striving to become a reliable place for folks moving between a hospital and home, and though no place can guarantee perfect care, Cherrywood seeks to keep health, respect, and comfort at the center of each day for everyone under its roof.
