    Warm staff, serious facility problems

I experienced a warm, family-oriented community with caring, professional staff - excellent nurses (Sherri, Ms. Ethel), creative activities, great food, and many employees who truly love the residents. However, I also saw neglect, inconsistent staff attitudes (Miranda was horrible), and serious facility problems at times (leaks, roaches/rats) that harmed health. Mixed experience: I'd recommend the caring team for long-term stays once administration stabilized, but I would not use it for short-term rehab.

    Summary review

The review set for Kennedy Health and Rehabilitation displays a clear split between highly positive experiences and very negative allegations. On the positive side, a majority of summaries praise the staff intensely — calling them caring, professional, and family-oriented. Specific nursing staff (Sherri and Ms Ethel) are singled out for excellence, and reviewers repeatedly highlight teamwork, a warm affectionate environment, and a supportive administrative culture. Several comments emphasize that residents were kept safe, well dressed, healthy, and even gained weight due to the food. Short-term rehab experiences are described as very good by multiple reviewers, and the facility earns praise for customer service, helpful front-line employees (including a named marketing representative, Miranda), and a noted housekeeping manager.

Activities and resident engagement are another consistent positive theme. Reviewers mention a creative activity director and residents enjoying organized activities, which supports a sense of community and family atmosphere. Multiple reviewers also describe the facility as clean, pleasantly smelling, and well maintained in those accounts. There are notes that recent administration changes generated a noticeable positive shift in atmosphere, suggesting that management turnover or new leadership had a beneficial impact for some families and residents.

Contrasting sharply with the positive reports are a number of serious negative allegations. Several reviewers report pest infestations (roaches and rats), leaking ceilings, and generally "nasty" or dirty conditions. Some accounts go further, alleging neglect that led to health issues and advising others to avoid the facility entirely. Language used in the negative summaries is strong — "horrible, uncaring staff," "stay away," and "strong warning against facility" — indicating deep dissatisfaction and harm in at least some cases. These complaints raise red flags about infection control, maintenance, and consistent quality of care.

A notable pattern is the stark inconsistency across reviews. Many reviewers describe top-notch care, a caring team, and a clean facility, while others report severe neglect and environmental problems. This suggests variability in resident experience that could be due to time-based changes (for example, improvements after administrative changes), differences in specific units or shifts, or divergent expectations among families. The mention of administration changes leading to an improved atmosphere supports the possibility that care quality may have changed over time or that remedial steps were taken in response to earlier issues.

For someone evaluating the facility, the most important takeaways are the strong positives around staff compassion, engaging activities, and good short-term rehab for many residents, counterbalanced by serious, specific negatives about pests, maintenance failures, and alleged neglect in other reports. These conflicting accounts mean prospective residents or families should do targeted due diligence: request recent inspection and pest-control records, inquire about maintenance and facilities repair schedules, ask for references from recent families with similar needs (short-term rehab vs long-term care), and tour the facility at different times of day to observe cleanliness and staff-resident interactions. Also ask management what specific steps were taken after the administrative changes reviewers mentioned, and whether those steps addressed past complaints.

In summary, Kennedy Health and Rehabilitation receives strong praise for its staff, activities, and certain outcomes (notably short-term rehab and dining experiences) from many reviewers, but there are isolated yet severe allegations concerning pests, building disrepair, and neglect that cannot be ignored. The overall picture is mixed: potentially excellent care in many cases, but with enough reported problems to warrant careful verification before making placement decisions.
