    Summary review

Overall sentiment: The reviews for Spring Gardens Senior Living Holladay are overwhelmingly positive, with consistent praise for the quality of care, the attentiveness of staff, and the environment. The dominant themes are compassionate, personalized caregiving; strong nursing oversight including memory care; a clean, light-filled, well-maintained building; and an active, engaging program of dining and activities. Multiple reviewers explicitly state that residents are treated with dignity and feel at home, and many families cite peace of mind and gratitude for the staff’s responsiveness and communication.

Care quality and staff: Reviewers repeatedly emphasize the caring nature of CNAs, nurses, and management. Staff are described as attentive, patient, and personally familiar with residents—knowing them by name, customizing diets, and adapting care plans as needs evolve. Several reviewers singled out clinical strengths: strong medication management, proactive monitoring to prevent bed sores, hourly repositioning when needed, and coordinated end-of-life and hospice support provided with privacy and dignity. Named leaders (Executive Director Kim, DON McKenna, Activities Director Allison and others) are frequently praised for being hands-on and compassionate. Many accounts note long-term staff presence and a team culture in which employees enjoy serving residents and support each other.

Memory care, safety and clinical supports: Memory care receives multiple commendations for being safe, appropriately staffed, and providing autonomy with necessary assistance. Reviewers cite well-trained staff, a conducive unit size and layout, and activities tailored to residents with cognitive impairment. Clinical and adjunct professionals (including hospice partners and on-site nursing resources) are reported as accessible and effective. A positive infection-control note recurs in several reviews: some families highlight a zero COVID fatality record among residents, attributing this to safety-first visitation rules and good protocols.

Facilities and environment: The physical environment is described as bright, airy, and homelike rather than institutional. Common areas, dining rooms and private rooms are lauded for cleanliness, pleasant scents, tasteful decoration, and outdoor amenities — including a courtyard, garden areas, patios, and scenic rides. Multiple reviews remark on the facility’s spotless condition and that it “feels like home.” The campus model and availability of spaces for family gatherings also get positive mention.

Dining and activities: Dining is consistently described as above-average; reviewers praise made-from-scratch meals, a rotating menu, appropriate portions, and specific favorites (pot roast, beef & broccoli bowl). The activity program is broad and frequently noted: nightly movies, exercise classes, music programs and visiting musical groups, arts and crafts, cards, pool, chess, Bingo, lecture series, themed holiday events, parades, scenic drives and regular outings. Reviewers indicate that activities contribute substantially to residents’ social engagement and quality of life.

Management, communication and transitions: Families report proactive communication and accessible management. Many reviewers point to smooth move-in experiences, supportive transitions from independent living to higher care levels, and staff who keep families well-informed (including during final days with hospice). Several reviews mention that management provides growth opportunities for staff and fosters a culture of continuous training.

Notable concerns and negative reports: While rare relative to the volume of praise, there are a few significant negative items that merit attention. The most serious allegation is a reported incident in memory care involving CNAs using a stun device on each other; a reviewer says the director of nursing fired a caregiver and issued a stark warning about the facility. This account stands out as an outlier and is the most substantial safety-related allegation among otherwise largely positive reviews. Additionally, there are isolated comments about an unfriendly receptionist and at least one reviewer describing a strongly negative perspective or controversy around personnel decisions and leadership. Several reviewers also note that the community is priced at a premium compared with alternatives. These negative items appear infrequent but are notable because they concern safety, staff conduct or customer service. Prospective families should follow up directly with the community to ask about any formal incidents, staff conduct policies, and current staffing/training measures.

Overall assessment: The reviews portray Spring Gardens Holladay as a high-quality senior living community with exceptional interpersonal care, strong clinical oversight, excellent food and an active social program in an attractive facility. The dominant pattern is one of satisfied residents and grateful families who emphasize compassion, cleanliness, and peace of mind. However, there are a few isolated but serious complaints—most notably the reported stun-gun incident and at least one strongly negative review—that suggest prospective residents and families should perform standard due diligence: tour the memory care unit in person, ask about recent incidents and investigations, review staffing ratios and training procedures, and clarify pricing and contract details. Given the breadth and consistency of positive reports, the community appears to offer very good care for many families, but follow-up on the isolated safety/customer-service concerns is recommended prior to placement.

Spring Gardens Senior Living Holladay is a large senior living community in Holladay, Utah, with space for up to 83 residents and a small-town feel with mountain views, where residents find all kinds of care, from independent living and assisted living to memory care and skilled nursing, and even home care and adult day services, so people can get what they need without moving, whether that's help with everyday activities, meals, medication, or more specialized support. The team, managed by Kim Gladstone, works hard to keep everyone comfortable and safe, and they're known for being patient and respectful, especially in Enhanced Memory Care, which focuses on supporting those with Alzheimer's and dementia using open layouts to reduce confusion and secure areas to keep everyone safe from wandering, while also offering person-centered dementia therapies and special activities.

Around the building, you'll find cozy spots like a fireplace lobby, a library lounge, and a game lounge for socializing, plus an exercise room, an ice cream parlor, a movie room, and even a putting green outside, so residents have lots of ways to stay active or just relax, and they can visit with friends and family in outdoor spaces year-round, all in an atmosphere that feels both upscale and friendly.

Meals are served restaurant-style three times a day, made by culinary staff who try to include options for different diets, and the staff offers laundry, housekeeping, and incontinence care, taking care of the chores so residents have more time to enjoy activities, which are planned by Activity Directors and can include on-site and off-site events, arts and crafts, devotional activities, and more, so there's always something to do. There's also a hair salon and barbershop in the building, and for those who need help with things like dressing, grooming, or medication, the assisted living services are designed to keep people as independent as possible, but with a little extra help when it's needed.
