    Gorgeous building, compassionate attentive care

I moved my dad to Ashford and couldn't be happier - the building is gorgeous and spotlessly clean, the staff are consistently kind, professional and attentive, and the food is excellent. He's engaged with daily activities, outings and friendly staff, and I have real peace of mind from the compassionate, responsive care (including strong memory-care support). Highly recommend.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive, with repeated praise for the cleanliness, appearance, and atmosphere of Ashford Assisted Living & Memory Care. Reviewers consistently describe the building as spotless, bright, and spacious — often highlighting large open atriums, abundant natural light, big windows with views of Mt. Timpanogos, and well-kept communal areas and gardens. Many reviews emphasize that the facility feels more like a home or a high-quality hospitality environment (several likened it to a five-star hotel), and housekeeping and maintenance receive frequent commendation.

Care quality and staffing are among the most frequently lauded aspects. Families repeatedly call out compassionate, attentive, and skilled caregivers — from reception staff and housekeeping to CNAs and licensed nurses. Specific items that recur are a favorable nurse-to-patient ratio, strong medication management, on-call physician availability, and hands-on ownership/management presence. Memory care is singled out as a strength: reviewers note that the memory care unit is well-designed (private, secure, developmentally appropriate), well-staffed, and infused with natural light and open spaces. Multiple anecdotes reference nurses and CNAs going above and beyond, compassionate end-of-life care, timely responses to medical needs, and clear, frequent communication with families.

The activity program is another clear strength. Reviewers describe an extensive, varied activities calendar running many hours each day (one review cited 9am–7pm), with live music, performances, holiday-themed staff engagement, bus outings, scenic drives, field trips, crafts, gardening, and frequent in-house entertainment. Many families credit the social programming with improving resident mood, reducing loneliness, and fostering friendships. The facility also appears family-inclusive, offering events where relatives can dine with residents and participate in special celebrations (e.g., Mother’s Day Tea Party), which reviewers appreciated.

Dining receives predominantly positive feedback, with many residents and families praising good menu selection, tasty meals, and enjoyable dining experiences. Some reviews note improvements over time (food service initially shaky but later improved), while others describe exceptional cafeteria and special-event meals. A minority of reviewers, however, reported food quality variability: occasional dissatisfaction with specific meals and a few comments about a lack of fresh fruit or moments when the food did not meet expectations.

Management and communication show a generally favorable pattern but with notable caveats. Many reviewers compliment management responsiveness, helpful tours (some mention staff by name), and issue resolution — describing administrators as caring and hands-on. Conversely, a recurring criticism concerns pricing: multiple reviewers reported price increases, unclear or poor communication around additional charges, and a perception of “nickel-and-diming” that led at least one family to relocate their loved one. There are also a few isolated reports alleging unprofessional behavior by management (bad-mouthing other facilities) and one serious allegation that staff were required to work while sick, raising health and safety concerns. These negative items are comparatively infrequent but sufficiently recurring to merit attention.

Taken together, the dominant pattern is high satisfaction: families repeatedly describe Ashford as lifesaving, comforting, and a ‘‘perfect fit’’ for their loved ones. Strengths cluster around cleanliness, a welcoming physical environment, high-quality compassionate caregiving (especially in memory care), robust activities and social programming, and generally positive dining and housekeeping services. Areas for improvement center on transparent, consistent communication about pricing and any extra charges, maintaining consistently high food quality (including fresh fruit availability), and ensuring management practices support staff safety and professionalism at all times. For most reviewers, the positives far outweigh the negatives, and the facility receives numerous strong recommendations from families and loved ones.
