Dogwood Crossing sits at 130 Deer Ridge Trail in Tazewell, Virginia, and offers a full range of senior living options including independent living, assisted living, memory care, nursing care, and respite care for short stays, which can be just for a day or as long as several days for caregivers who need a break, and all this depends on room availability, of course, and you see, they've got semi-private apartments and private rooms, each with its own bathroom, heating, and cooling, and every room has an emergency call system in the bedroom and bathroom for safety, which gives some peace of mind, and for those who have pets, some pets are allowed, though you'd need to ask about which kinds, and there's 24-hour staffing, including nurses who are on staff and on call if something comes up at any hour. Residents at Dogwood Crossing get three daily meals, snacks throughout the day, and they handle special diets-whether that means low sodium, gluten-free, vegan, or other needs-and guests can come for meals too, which is a nice touch. Housekeeping, linens, laundry, and dry-cleaning are handled by staff, so residents don't have to worry about those chores, and there's medication management and administration, frequent well-being checks, and support for daily living tasks like bathing or dressing when needed. Amenities include large sun rooms, comfortable community spaces where folks tend to gather, indoor and outdoor common areas, a patio garden and courtyard for fresh air, as well as an on-site beauty salon, and there's cable TV and wireless internet access for entertainment and connection. For spiritual needs, there are onsite devotional and religious services for several faith traditions, and activity programs are a big part of daily life, with social, educational, and entertainment events offered alongside special memory care programs like snoezelen, reminiscence therapy, and light therapy to help those living with Alzheimer's or dementia feel more comfortable and secure, and you'll find a secured area and tailored support for memory care, designed to prevent wandering and reduce confusion. Activities are posted regularly on their Facebook page and YouTube channel so families can keep up, and transportation for outings or appointments is available for a fee, with resident parking for those who still drive, and veterans' aid and attendance help is available for those who qualify. The community's professionally managed, secure, and home-like, with staff who give personalized attention designed to help folks feel comfortable no matter what level of care they need, and with the continuum of care-meaning independent, assisted, skilled nursing, and hospice service-it's possible for residents to stay as their needs change, letting them age in place. There's a simple online contact form if you have questions, and they also offer a virtual tour for those who can't visit in person.

Pleasant facility but dangerous care
I placed my mom in this well-kept, homey facility with friendly, attentive staff and good meals in an eat-in room - many residents seemed comfortable and the place felt clean. However, communication and staffing were inconsistent; my mom developed a pressure sore from wheelchair use, nurses lied about care, and we were ultimately discharged over a grade-4 issue. Because of that serious safety concern, I cannot recommend it despite the pleasant atmosphere; we're now looking at assisted living in Carthage, NC.
