    Excellent Alzheimer's care and hospice

I placed my dad here for two weeks and couldn't be happier. The staff - especially Maria and the RN - were patient, professional, and proactive; medication and behavior management for his Alzheimer's was excellent and he became calm and content. The house is beautiful, clean, with a nice view, large open plan, good-sized rooms with private baths, and tasty meals; great for socializing but not for someone seeking lots of privacy. Hospice care was peaceful, staff exemplary - no complaints, very grateful, five stars.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews for Evergreen Park AFH West Campus is strongly positive. Multiple reviewers emphasize exemplary, attentive, and professional staff, noting patience and kindness across caregivers and nursing personnel. The facility receives particular praise for clinical competence — reviewers specifically mention an RN on staff, effective medication management for Alzheimer’s, and successful aggression control. Families also highlight proactive communication from staff and management, which helped them feel informed and supported during transitions and care episodes.

Care quality emerges as a primary strength. Several summaries describe staff going above and beyond in daily care and in critical moments: one family recounted a calm and grateful two-week period in which a resident with dementia was well managed and content, and another described peaceful, high-quality end-of-life hospice care. Reviewers repeatedly use terms like "exemplary," "attentive," and "kind" to describe interactions with caregivers; one staff member (Maria) is called out by name for professionalism. These consistent comments suggest a staff culture focused on dignity, responsiveness, and clinical competence.

The physical facility and environment are also repeatedly praised. Reviewers describe the house as beautiful and well-maintained, with a nice view, clean and orderly common areas, and residents who appear neatly dressed and comfortable. Room accommodations are reported as generous: good-sized rooms, some master rooms with private bathrooms, and a large open-plan layout that encourages social interaction. Visitors noted warm welcomes during tours — caregivers greeted guests at the door and gave guided tours — which contributes to a positive first impression.

Dining and daily life receive favorable comments as well. Multiple reviewers observed that the food smelled and looked good, and general satisfaction with meals is noted. The open, social layout and common activities (for example, residents watching TV together) indicate that the facility prioritizes communal engagement and socialization, which reviewers view as a benefit for many residents.

There is a consistent theme around family satisfaction and successful resident transitions. Reviewers reported that residents settled in, were happy and calm, and that families were grateful — one review explicitly states a five-star overall impression. Proactive family communication and hands-on caregiving are highlighted as key reasons for these positive outcomes.

The primary concern mentioned across the reviews relates to privacy and suitability for residents who prefer solitude. The facility's large open-plan design and social focus were described as less ideal for someone seeking extensive privacy or who prefers to remain alone in their room; one reviewer suggested it "may require staying in your room" for those who want privacy. This pattern indicates that while the environment benefits residents who thrive on interaction, it may be a mismatch for those whose needs center on seclusion or quiet apartment-style living.

In summary, Evergreen Park AFH West Campus is portrayed as a warm, well-run adult family home with strong clinical capabilities, especially in dementia care and end-of-life support, and a staff that families consistently praise for professionalism and compassion. The facility's physical environment, meals, and social atmosphere are clear strengths for residents who enjoy communal living. Prospective residents and families should weigh these strengths against the facility's social/open-plan nature if privacy or solitude is a high priority.
