    Caring, family-like memory care home

I live here and couldn't be happier. The staff are deeply caring, professional, and treat residents with dignity-it's a true family-like, Greenhouse-style home. Memory care is first-rate, residents are engaged in meaningful activities, and there's always music, laughter, and genuine connection. The building is beautiful, clean, ranch-style and accessible with private rooms/bathrooms, on-site nurse, salon, dining, and safe outdoor space. Families are welcomed, residents feel valued, and I highly recommend it for assisted living or memory care.

    Summary review

The overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive, with repeated emphasis on compassionate, respectful, and highly engaged staff who create a warm, family-like atmosphere. Reviewers consistently highlight staff dedication, kindness, and professionalism — describing genuine emotional connections between caregivers and residents, respectful treatment of elders, and staff support during difficult moments such as a resident passing. The staff-focused praise suggests a consistent culture of person-centered care where residents are treated with dignity and families feel welcomed and supported.

Facility and accommodations receive similarly favorable comments. Multiple reviewers describe The Village as a beautiful, new building with a ranch-style, single-level layout that supports accessibility. Private bedrooms with private bathrooms, a clean environment, and a secure, small yard with a patio and chairs are specifically mentioned. The facility is presented as having multiple wings including memory care, and operating under a Greenhouse/community-based model, which reviewers associate with a home-like setting and a greater sense of community and autonomy for residents.

Clinical and safety features are also noted: an on-site nurse, emergency nurse call buttons, and proximity to a doctor are cited as reassuring elements. Reviewers made particular note of supportive care during transitions and end-of-life moments, reinforcing perceptions of competent, compassionate clinical attention. At the same time, one recurring practical point is that a physician is nearby rather than in-house full-time — something families should be aware of when considering medical coverage and response expectations.

Day-to-day life and programming are highlighted as strengths. Reviewers repeatedly describe engaging activity schedules, music, laughter, companionship, and meaningful programs that promote residents' happiness and well-being. The dining experience benefits from in-house meals prepared by a cook and accessible dining areas; social dining and community activities are part of the home-like rhythm. On-site amenities such as a hair salon and spa tub add to the sense of a full-service residential option for elders.

Community involvement and identity are strong themes. Several reviewers express pride in the community, noting local involvement in making The Village a reality and hoping it continues to operate for many years. The environment is frequently characterized as close-knit and family-oriented, which appeals to families seeking a small, intimate setting rather than a large institutional facility. Reviewers explicitly recommend The Village as a positive option for both assisted living and memory care.

Notable patterns and concerns are limited but worth mentioning. A few practical limitations are raised: the outdoor space is described as secure yet small, which may matter to families who prioritize extensive outdoor areas. The local climate (cold) is mentioned by at least one reviewer and could influence seasonal access to outdoor spaces. The medical model relies on an on-site nurse and nearby physician rather than a full-time doctor in-house — generally adequate according to reviewers but a factor for those with complex medical needs. Finally, there is an undercurrent of community dependence: several comments reflect hope that the facility remains open and sustainable, suggesting that local support and advocacy have been important to its establishment and ongoing operations.

In summary, reviews portray The Village as a well-run, compassionate, and community-centered senior living option with strong memory care programming, excellent caregiving staff, comfortable private accommodations, and meaningful daily engagement for residents. Families and reviewers value the close-knit, home-like culture and the safety features in place. Prospective residents and families should consider the small but real practical points — limited outdoor acreage, local climate, and the medical staffing model — alongside the many strengths when evaluating fit and expectations.

About The Village - a Mustard Seed Project

The Village - a Mustard Seed Project sits on a forested hillside on the Key Peninsula in western Washington, with views of the town and the Olympic mountains, and you can walk to shops and services, which is handy when you don't want to drive. The Village is part of a non-profit focused on seniors living better lives, and it offers assisted living, memory care, and ways for people to stay independent longer. The building is just one story, and it's really three smaller homes all joined under a single long roof, each home having 10 bedrooms with private baths and kitchenettes, and these bedrooms gather around warm open hearth areas, so there's always company nearby and you don't have to feel alone if you don't want to. The Village has 30 studio apartments for seniors, and the community spaces are used for meals, activities, support groups, and classes, while the on-site café stays open weekdays from 11 in the morning to 2 in the afternoon, which gives everyone a spot to sit and eat together or meet neighbors for coffee.

This place is the first assisted living project in the area, and it tries to keep folks comfortable for the long haul with help like meals, laundry, housekeeping, and management of medicine handled by caregivers who actually know the residents. The staff don't wear uniforms and you won't find PA systems or big medication carts rolling down the halls, so things feel homey and calm instead of like some big busy institution. Doctors, like Dr. William Roes, come by for visits, and there's even someone for on-site hairdressing, so you don't have to leave for those things. The Village is run by Concepts in Community Living and owned by the Mustard Seed Project of Key Peninsula. They try to support not just basic needs but also offer transportation help, information and referrals, programs for health and wellness, and even nutrition support, all to help people age in place as comfortably as possible. You'll find a gathering space for social and spiritual activities, and the facility is licensed as an assisted living facility. While there's a lot offered here, it's all built on the idea of people helping each other and living as independently as they can for as long as they can, and everyone's care gets tailored to what they need at different times of life.
