    Spacious apartment, excellent dining, welcoming

I moved into the new building and love it - spacious, well-appointed apartment with washer/dryer and a safe, bright layout. The restaurant-style dining (two meals included) is restaurant-quality and the menu is excellent. Staff are warm, attentive, and know me by name; housekeeping, secure parking, beauty shop, and pet-friendly policies make life easy. Plenty of activities (arts & crafts, woodshop, fitness room, game rooms, courtyard) and a welcoming, clean community - I highly recommend it.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews for Canterbury Park Independent Living Community is strongly positive. Reviewers consistently highlight a beautifully designed, meticulously maintained property with comfortable, thoughtfully appointed apartments and abundant amenity spaces. The facility is repeatedly described as clean, resort-like, and decorated in a way that suits its residents, creating an inviting and homey atmosphere. Many reviews mention the property as new or recently updated, with bright, cozy apartments, ample closet space, and safety-minded features such as spacious walk-in showers.

Staff and care quality are one of the clearest strengths identified. Reviews emphasize compassionate, respectful, friendly, and upbeat staff at every level — from front desk representatives to caregivers and management. Specific comments mention staff longevity, family ownership/management, and personal touches such as staff calling residents by their first names. Managers and representatives are noted as informative and helpful, often offering follow-up calls and additional support during the touring or move-in process. These attributes contribute to a smooth transition for many residents and a general feeling of being well taken care of.

Facilities and apartment details receive frequent praise. Apartment layouts vary, with many described as spacious and attractive; common features noted include a small kitchen or kitchenette, living room, nice bedrooms, in-room washer/dryer, fireplaces (non-wood-burning), and safety-minded bathrooms. There are dedicated amenity spaces on multiple floors — including game rooms, TV rooms, private gathering rooms, a billiard/parlor area, arts and crafts rooms, a well-stocked woodshop, exercise room, and social areas on every floor. Outdoor and semi-outdoor features such as an enclosed central patio and an impeccable courtyard are also repeatedly praised, as is secure parking. The overall impression is of a community designed to offer both private comfort and plentiful shared spaces for socializing and hobbies.

Dining is another repeatedly highlighted strength. The community offers restaurant-style dining with two meals included for residents, and numerous reviewers describe the food as delicious and thoughtfully prepared (some even calling it 5-star). Menus are described as varied with good options, and there is an on-site Bistro that provides reasonably priced lunch options (noted hours included 11:00–3:00). Reviewers appreciate accommodations for dietary needs and the overall quality and presentation of meals. Housecleaning services and housekeeping-related offerings are also mentioned as conveniences that add to residents’ peace of mind.

Activities and social life are robust and well-supported. Reviewers frequently note a busy activity calendar with holiday celebrations, trips, crafts, and a high level of resident engagement. Craft rooms with many supplies, woodshop access, beauty salon/hairdresser on site, exercise classes, and organized outings create a lively environment described as upbeat and fun. The social environment is characterized as family-like, fostering friendships, and providing many opportunities for residents to stay active and connected.

Management, processes, and value perceptions show consistent professionalism but some mixed feedback on affordability. Tour experiences are commonly positive: managers spend time with prospects, answer questions, and make follow-up contacts. There are flexible options such as weekend stays and transportation services available, which reviewers appreciate. However, several reviewers noted that the price point was out of their budget, indicating that while many find the price fair for the level of service (some explicitly call it fair or reasonably priced), the community may not be accessible to all prospective residents.

A few consistent concerns emerge across the reviews. The building layout and navigation can be confusing for newcomers, and several reviewers suggested that guidance is helpful on initial visits and early move-in. There is no on-site medical care, which is an important limitation for families seeking integrated medical services. At least one reviewer mentioned that a particular apartment was small, so apartment size can vary and some floor plans will be tighter than others. Lastly, while the Bistro is appreciated, its limited midday hours (for example, 11:00–3:00) might not suit every resident’s preferences.

In summary, reviews portray Canterbury Park Independent Living Community as a high-quality independent living option with standout staff, excellent dining, broad and engaging activities, well-maintained physical spaces, and a warm, community-focused culture. The most notable trade-offs are the lack of on-site medical services, potential variability in apartment size, occasional orientation challenges due to building layout, and cost considerations for some prospects. For seniors seeking an active, social independent-living environment with strong hospitality, safety, and amenities, the community receives strong recommendations from residents and visitors alike.
