    Lovely family-run safe independent living

I live here and love it - family-owned, staff treat you like family and know residents by name. The grounds are beautiful (10 acres, mountain views, gardens), apartments are roomy with A/C and in-unit washer/dryer, and there's an indoor heated pool plus lots of daily activities, outings and transportation. Rent usually includes utilities/cable and 24/7 management gives me peace of mind; pets are welcome. It's clean, safe, and ideal for independent living, though rents can be tight for SSI and on-site meals aren't great - I'd still recommend it.

    Summary review

Overall impression: Reviews paint Boulevard Park Place as a strongly positive independent living option with a dominant theme of a warm, family-run environment. The facility is repeatedly described as family-owned (over 30 years), with owners and managers who are hands-on, caring, and attentive. Staff and managers are characterized as friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable of residents by name, creating an intimate, supportive atmosphere that many residents value as a permanent home rather than a temporary stay. The prevailing sentiment is enthusiastic: residents regularly say they "love it here," call it the "best place to live," and highlight long-term residency and community bonds.

Facilities and grounds: The property is consistently praised for its well-maintained, attractive grounds and landscaping on an ample 10-acre parcel. Reviewers note seasonal flowering beds, ample spacing between buildings, and pleasant views such as mountain vistas. Indoor amenities highlighted include a heated pool and hot tub, which several reviewers credit with improving mobility and quality of life. Apartments are frequently described as roomy and clean, often with large decks, A/C, and in-unit washer/dryer. Pets are allowed and residents report that animals (cats referenced) thrive there. Overall maintenance and cleanliness receive strong positive remarks.

Activities, outings, and services: A major strength is the breadth and frequency of organized activities: daily programs, technology classes, movies, planned road trips, frequent outings, and scheduled grocery and medical-appointment transportation. The community offers a courtesy car and driver for errands and planned trips, plus bus/car service for appointments. Activity coordination is highlighted as a core feature that keeps residents engaged and social. This active programming, combined with welcoming residents, contributes to a lively, social culture favored by many reviewers.

Management and caregiving: Management is consistently described as friendly, hands-on, and professional. The family-run leadership is seen as responsive and resident-focused, with managers and owners attuned to residents' needs. Several reviews note 24/7 on-site management coverage, which contributes to the perception of safety and reliability. While the facility is positioned as independent living rather than assisted living, comments such as "staff treated like family" and "staff attuned to residents' needs" indicate a supportive environment for active seniors.

Dining and housekeeping: Reviews contain mixed and somewhat conflicting information about dining. Multiple reviewers state that meals are not provided and that residents self-cook, while at least one comment mentions "outstanding daily care, terrible food, often inedible meals," indicating that where meal services exist they may be inconsistent or of poor quality. It is clear that routine apartment cleaning is not included—residents are responsible for housekeeping. Prospective residents should clarify current dining options and any available meal plans or food-service standards before moving in.

Cost and value: Many reviewers describe the community as a reasonable value because rent often includes utilities and cable, and because living there reduces the burden of home maintenance. However, affordability is a recurring concern for some: several reviews explicitly mention high rents relative to fixed incomes like SSI and express a desire for lower rent. While many residents feel the cost is justified by amenities, location, and services, others find pricing challenging—this suggests variability in perceptions of value depending on individual financial circumstances.

Patterns and caveats: The dominant pattern across reviews is overwhelmingly positive—friendly staff, excellent maintenance, abundant activities, good amenities (pool, grounds, transportation), and a family atmosphere. Caveats to note: dining and food-service quality appear inconsistent and housekeeping is not provided, so the community best fits independent seniors who can manage their own cooking and cleaning or who are comfortable arranging outside help. Also, a minority of reviewers express affordability concerns and there is at least one notably low-rated comment, indicating that individual experiences can vary.

Recommendation summary: Boulevard Park Place appears well-suited for active, independent seniors seeking a community-oriented, family-run environment with plentiful activities, strong on-site management, and attractive grounds and amenities. It is particularly appealing to those who value social engagement, transportation support, and reduced home maintenance. Potential residents should confirm current meal-service arrangements, housekeeping policies, and exact rent/inclusion details (utilities, cable, pet policy) and assess affordability relative to their income before deciding.

Many residents say the environment is friendly, the upkeep is solid, and they appreciate the clear focus on supporting an active, safe, comfortable retirement with just enough help available whenever someone needs it. Tours run every day if someone wants to see the place, and most find the atmosphere is simple, lively, and welcoming for anyone looking to downsize without giving up independence or comfort.
