    Compassionate care, but management concerns

I placed my loved one here and overall the staff are compassionate, attentive, and create a clean, home-like facility with cute apartments, good food, lively activities and well-kept grounds. Administration has generally been helpful and responsive during move-in and long-term care. That said, experiences seem to vary - there are troubling reports since new leadership (pest/bedbug issues, ignored complaints, water outages and staffing lapses) - so I recommend touring and asking about recent management and pest control before deciding.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the review set is mixed but leans positive in volume: many reviewers describe Riverview Manor Assisted Living & Memory Care as a clean, bright, small facility with a home-like, family atmosphere and compassionate staff. Frequent positive themes include individualized attention from owners and staff, successful long-term placements, and specific examples of helpful medical support such as ordering wheelchairs, arranging physical therapy, and keeping families informed of physician visits and medication changes. Reviewers repeatedly praise the facility's gardens and outdoor spaces, private apartments with large bathrooms and walk-in showers, and active social programming like bingo, trivia, and karaoke that help residents form friendships and stay engaged.

Staff and caregiving are the most commonly cited strengths. Multiple reviewers highlighted caring aides, responsive nurses, an attentive activities director, and management figures (Melanie and other owners) who show genuine interest and go out of their way to assist families and residents. Many families said the move-in process was smooth, that the facility felt secure and comfortable, and that residents were treated with dignity and respect. For people seeking a small, dementia-focused environment with steady personal attention, several reviewers highly recommend Riverview Manor and report no regrets even after long stays of a year or more.

However, a number of serious negative allegations appear across the summaries and create notable concern. Several reviews describe severe lapses in care and management response, including claims of neglect, abusive treatment, residents calling for help with no response, and family intervention that led to removal of a resident. Sanitation and pest-control issues were explicitly mentioned in multiple summaries: reports of bedbugs, feces left overnight, and use of unlicensed pest-control staff. There are also accounts of infrastructure failures and staffing shortages, including an account of no water for multiple days, which reviewers linked to lapses in daily care. Some families reported sores or possible bug bites on residents and said management ignored complaints or that authorities did not adequately respond when alerted.

Patterns in the feedback point to variability in experience. While many reviewers praise the same staff and leadership for compassion and high standards, other reviewers say the facility declined under new leadership or experienced intermittent service breakdowns. This mix suggests inconsistency over time or differences between units/shifts. Other less severe but recurring criticisms include some outdated aspects of the building, dim lighting in places, requests for additional or improved activities, and a waiting list for new admissions. Cost and insurance were mentioned positively by some reviewers as an advantage over pricier alternatives that would not accept certain insurance.

In summary, Riverview Manor appears to deliver excellent, personalized memory-care and assisted-living services for a sizable group of families and residents: clean apartments, supportive staff, meaningful activities, and attractive grounds are common positives. At the same time, the presence of multiple serious allegations about neglect, pest problems, poor management responsiveness, and operational lapses cannot be ignored. These contrasting reports point to either episodic failures or inconsistencies in leadership or staffing. Prospective families should weigh the many positive accounts but also probe directly about recent complaints, pest-control policies and records, staffing levels and turnover, incident reporting and resolution practices, licensing and inspections, and any leadership changes. Visiting in person, speaking with current families, and reviewing recent inspection or complaint records will help determine whether the facility’s strengths are consistent and whether the serious issues reported in some reviews have been addressed.
