    Loving professional care, excellent home

I feel so lucky to have found Highlands Home Care. The loving, professional staff (many with 20+ years' experience) treated my loved one like family - spotlessly clean, safe, cozy home, amazing home-cooked meals, lots of activities, musician visits, and attentive caregivers who went above and beyond, giving us real peace of mind. My only caveat was some contract transparency issues. Overall I'm grateful and would highly recommend Highlands Home Care.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews of Highlands Home Care is strongly positive. Reviewers repeatedly emphasize the high quality of care, the warm and family-like environment, and the professionalism and compassion of the caregiving team. Many comments highlight that residents feel at home, socialize well with others, and experience improved well-being. Families consistently report relief and gratitude, citing both the emotional support and practical peace of mind that the home provides.

Care quality and staff performance are the most prominent strengths. Multiple summaries describe caregivers as attentive, loving, conscientious, and proactive — staff who put residents first and often go above and beyond typical expectations. Reviewers singled out experienced caregivers (including one with over 20 years in the adult family home industry) and named staff such as Paula for praise. The overall tone indicates respectful, dignified treatment of residents and strong family-staff relationships, with staff interactions described as kind, knowledgeable, and engaged.

The physical environment and cleanliness receive consistent praise. The home is described as beautiful, bright, and comfortable with an open living room that encourages socialization. Several reviewers call the facility spotlessly clean, cozy, and safe, and note that personal hygiene and safety are prioritized. The atmosphere is repeatedly characterized as home-like rather than institutional, which contributes to families feeling that the move was transformational and a blessing.

Dining and nutrition are clear positives. Meals are regularly described as home-cooked and prepared from scratch, and reviewers uniformly enjoyed the food. This emphasis on quality meals contributes to residents’ satisfaction and families’ reassurance about daily care.

Activities and social engagement are frequently mentioned as strong points: there are regular musician visits and a wide variety of activities such as brain games, bingo, crafts, chair workouts, balloon games, pool noodle hockey, and caregiver-led walks. These offerings support mental stimulation, physical activity, and social connection. However, there is a notable inconsistency in the feedback: at least one reviewer reported a lack of activities. This contrast suggests variability that could be due to timing, individual resident needs, or differing expectations about activity frequency or variety.

Management and transparency show both strengths and a concern. Owners and management are described as warm, welcoming, and involved, which contributes to the family-like culture and personalized attention. A single recurring negative point is a concern about contract transparency; one reviewer explicitly mentioned contract transparency issues. Prospective families should therefore clarify contractual terms and expectations up front to avoid misunderstandings.

In summary, Highlands Home Care is overwhelmingly praised for compassionate, experienced staff, a clean and comfortable home environment, quality home-cooked meals, and meaningful activities that foster socialization and improved quality of life. The dominant themes are attentive, resident-centered care and a strong, family-oriented culture. The main items for prospective residents and families to verify during a tour or intake are activity schedules/consistency and the specifics of contract terms and transparency. Given the volume and specificity of positive feedback, Highlands Home Care appears to be a highly recommended option for those needing assisted living in a small, home-like setting, provided families confirm administrative details to their satisfaction.

The caregivers are trained and show patience with memory care services and provide companionship, helping with things like bathing, dressing, medication management, and just about everything needed for daily living, so there's support twenty-four hours a day. Folks living here enjoy homemade meals shared together at the table, daily activities such as arts and crafts, chair workouts, group games like bingo, word puzzles, and regular music sessions where musicians play piano and sing, as well as calming walks around the neighborhood with the friendly staff when weather allows. For folks who like to read, there are partnerships with local libraries and plenty of books, and the bright, open living room brings people together for conversation, puzzles, and gatherings that help everyone feel included. Technology services help residents stay connected with things like senior-friendly phones and internet plans, and there's also a focus on keeping residents active and social, based on the idea that everyone should feel respected and at home while having opportunities to join in on meaningful day activities, including some directed specifically by HCS and DDA programs. Visiting hours run from morning until evening, so families can stop by, and there's always room for short-term stays when primary caregivers need a break through respite care. The facility keeps a peaceful atmosphere, puts a strong focus on dignity and personal interests, and encourages emotional healing, all while staying licensed and regularly inspected by state agencies. There's also easy access to nearby cafes, parks, pharmacies, doctors, churches, restaurants, and fun spots for outings that can brighten a resident's day, and, with a review rating of 4.83 out of 12 reviews, the home has built up a reputation for being warm, safe, and down-to-earth for seniors who want both quiet comfort and a sense of community.
