    Moved in, pleased with community

I toured and moved in and have been very pleased-staff are phenomenal, kind, and helpful (the administrator included). My apartment is light, airy, and well laid out with a kitchenette; common areas are cozy with ample space for activities and beautiful foliage outside. Food is good and mostly homemade, residents are friendly, and the community feels quiet, inviting, and great value-convenient for my family and fits my needs; I would recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Overall sentiment across the review summaries is clearly positive. Multiple reviewers described their tour experiences as pleasant and informative, and repeatedly highlighted staff as a strong point — staff members were characterized as knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, and attentive, with the administrator singled out as helpful. These consistent notes about staff behavior and the quality of the tour suggest the facility places emphasis on resident intake and person-to-person interactions, which reviewers appreciated.

Facilities and living spaces receive frequent praise. Reviewers pointed out the well-laid-out single apartments that include a kitchenette, living room, bedroom, and bathroom; rooms are described as light and airy. The community also offers an ample activity area that provides space for resident socialization, plus a nice dining area. One reviewer mentioned a minor cosmetic issue in a single apartment (painting needed), which appears isolated rather than systemic based on the information provided.

Dining and daily living impressions skew positive. Food is described multiple times as homemade and generally well-liked — one resident is noted as liking most of the food and another review simply called the food good. These comments, paired with the favorable remarks about the dining area, indicate meal service is a reliable strength for the community. Reviewers also noted that residents seem to be well taken care of and that the community fits individual needs; one family member specifically mentioned the location is convenient for family visits.

Activities and programming show mixed signals. Some reviews note a variety of daily activities and occasional in-house entertainment, suggesting a normally active social calendar. However, at least one reviewer reported activity limitations attributable to COVID restrictions — specifically that only bingo was available — so programming availability may be fluctuating with public-health conditions. The pattern is best summarized as generally present and positive activities when conditions allow, but with evidence of temporary restrictions that have reduced options for some residents.

Management and recommendation patterns are favorable. The administrator and staff were repeatedly described as helpful, and reviewers explicitly said they would recommend the community. Taken together, the reviews portray Oak Grove Assisted Care as a well-maintained, resident-focused community with strong staff interactions, comfortable and functional living spaces, enjoyable dining, and a normally active social environment that can be affected by external restrictions (e.g., COVID). The only noteworthy negatives reported are limited activities at times due to pandemic-related constraints and a single instance of minor cosmetic maintenance needed in an apartment.

    About Oak Grove Assisted Care

Oak Grove Assisted Care sits at 200 W. 6th St. in Necedah, WI, and you'll find it close to eight places of worship and a hospital, which means medical visits and spiritual services are easy to reach, and people looking for a nearby church or chapel have plenty to choose from. The building has room for about 40 residents, so the community feels small and friendly, and there's a focus on both independence and support, so folks can get the help they need without losing their privacy. People can pick from 1-bedroom or 2-bedroom apartments, all with kitchenettes, separate living rooms, bedrooms, and bathrooms, and there's wheelchair accessibility and fully furnished units, which takes care of comfort and convenience right away. The staff are around 24 hours a day, ready to help with things like bathing, dressing, transfers, and daily medications, and they set up personalized care plans for everyone, which means you'll get the help you want without too much interference.

Oak Grove gives people transportation options, making it easier to run errands, visit local cafes and restaurants, or just go exploring, and there's parking for those who drive, too. For meals, residents get restaurant-style dining in an elegant dining room, with chef-prepared food, options for special diets, and a focus on good taste, and the everyday service means you don't have to worry about cooking if you'd rather not. Folks who want to cook a little on their own can make meals in the kitchenette. The apartments include cable or satellite TV and phones for each room, and there's a small library for quiet reading, indoor and outdoor common areas for gathering, and designated spots for cards, puzzles, and other hobbies. If you want some fresh air, the building has a garden, walking paths, and a swimming pool and hot tub for relaxing or gentle exercise, and the salon and on-site beautician keep haircuts and grooming handy. Pets like cats and dogs are welcome.

The community runs daily activities, brings in outside entertainers, holds movie nights, and hosts regular social or devotional gatherings, so there's plenty to do for those who want to join in. There's a special mental wellness program, support for memory care, and dedicated help for people living with diabetes, including meal plans and medication management. Oak Grove also offers respite or short-term stays for those who only need help for a little while. The building has safety and security features like an emergency call system, supervised exits for memory care, and round-the-clock staff. Housekeeping and laundry are included, which means less work and more peace of mind. Skilled nursing, therapy, and rehabilitation services are also available, so people with higher needs don't have to move out if care needs change. The whole setup is meant to feel peaceful and welcoming, and they try to make sure everyone finds a space to belong or a moment to themselves, whether that's in a quiet corner with a book, out in the sunshine, or joining in on a group activity.
