I toured and was very impressed: a beautiful, clean, home-like community with spacious apartments, tasty dining (and meal delivery), laundry/housekeeping support, and attentive, caring staff who communicate promptly. Activities and leadership were engaging and welcoming - I'd recommend this place for a loved one.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Reviews present a consistently positive picture of the facility with particular emphasis on staff quality, community atmosphere, and active programming. Families and visitors commonly describe staff as kind, attentive, and professional; management is characterized as responsive and easy to work with. The property itself is described as clean, well maintained and home-like, which reviewers say contributes to residents’ comfort and family peace of mind.

Care quality and staff: The dominant strength is the caregiving team. Reviewers highlight compassionate, respectful interactions and timely clinical communication. Several reviewers singled out individual staff and leaders for promptness and effective oversight, and dementia-focused engagement is noted as a service emphasis. Move-in and transition processes are described as smooth, and overall descriptors such as “residents treated like family” suggest consistent person-centered attention.

Dining and support services: Dining receives favorable comments for nutritious, well-presented meals, including delivery to rooms when needed and breakfast service coordination. Laundry, housekeeping, and other support services are described as dependable. Cost is a practical consideration for some families: a few mentioned perceived expense relative to room size or market alternatives, so prospective residents should confirm current pricing and included services.

Activities and social life: The activities program is a clear positive. Reviewers note a variety of offerings (music, games like cribbage, holiday events, and dementia-appropriate engagement) led by an active life-enrichment director. Staff-shareable updates and photos—often circulated via social media—help families track participation. A family-requested enhancement was expanded remote-communication options (for example, Zoom), indicating that virtual visitation infrastructure could be improved.

Facilities and safety: The physical environment is consistently described as clean, quiet, and pleasant, with spacious apartments and a welcoming common area. The community is dog-friendly, which some families value. Reviewers also note active safety and security measures; however, that emphasis on safety sometimes produces tension with resident autonomy. Concerns center on egress/security protocols that can limit unsupervised outdoor access for residents who expect more independent movement. Prospective families should discuss how the community balances safety and independence for individual residents.

Management and patterns to verify on a visit: Management is generally portrayed as engaged and communicative, with an encouraging staff culture. Commonly praised attributes include prompt answers to questions, accommodation during admissions, and visible teamwork. When evaluating the community in person, families may want to ask about virtual visitation options, the specifics of safety/egress protocols and how they are applied, and detailed pricing and what services are included.

Bottom line: Our House Senior Living - Richland Center Senior Apartments is presented as a well-run, family-oriented community with strong caregiving, varied activities, and a clean homelike setting. It is likely to be a good fit for residents and families who prioritize compassionate staff, structured activities, and on-site services; families who prioritize unrestricted outdoor access or extensive virtual-communication options should clarify those policies during a tour and compare costs against individual needs.

About Our House Senior Living - Richland Center

Our House Senior Living - Richland Center Senior Apartments sits at 250 N Orange St and serves older adults, mainly those aged 55 and up, with a mix of care options and housing choices that really try to fit what folks might need as they age, so you'll find assisted care, memory care, short-term care, and even hospice services in a setting that tries to keep things as normal and home-like as possible. The building's got spacious one- and two-bedroom apartments in different layouts, and each one comes with a private kitchen or kitchenette, walk-in shower with safety bars, big bathroom, emergency call systems with pull cords and pendants, and it's all set for everyday tasks since housekeeping and maintenance take care of chores, with weekly laundry service for bedding and towels and even free laundry rooms for personal loads if you want to do them yourself. Residents get three family-style meals every day in a dining room, and there's always snacks around too, with a kitchen staff who take care to put focus on easy-to-eat, nourishing food.

You'll find friendly staff there every day who help with daily living if needed, like help with dressing, medication, or managing routines, and the care team works with families for memory care so folks with Alzheimer's or dementia get their own plan to help them feel calm and safe-there are dedicated spaces and staff for this, and memory care tries to mix personal care with activities that keep minds active and bring some laughter and comfort to folks struggling with memory loss. Pets are allowed with some policies, so animal lovers don't have to give up their companions. Apartments and common areas have senior-friendly layouts, including spots like an inviting lounge with a fireplace, a quiet second-floor library, and an on-site salon for beauty and barber needs, plus scheduled rides out for errands or trips to parks, restaurants, or shops, and there are always activities to join like crafts, cards, walking groups, or gatherings around the living room. There's even devotional services offered offsite for folks who want that.

The senior apartments and condos, and townhomes too, are meant to help people continue living as independently as they can, and the setup encourages socializing, so residents eat together, join hobby groups, or visit in the front rooms and shared kitchens, and involvement is encouraged with "Our Life" programs that plan community events and keep residents active. Security and safety get considered in things like the emergency call systems and the staff always keeping an eye out, and there's a monthly rent that covers utilities, meals, housekeeping, and laundry, so it's fairly straightforward. All this is part of the larger Our House Senior Living group, which means there's some consistency in their approach, focusing on respect, dignity, and offering as much independence as possible, and you'll feel there's a quiet, caring mission behind it, which is sometimes all you can ask for in a place where people are looking for comfort, routine, and friendly faces as they enjoy their later years.
