    Homey cottage care, management concern

I love the Green House-style, cottage living here - beautiful location, safe walkways, big common kitchen/table/TV/piano, and a genuinely non-institutional, homey feel. The staff are wonderful, caring, individualized in their approach, and routinely go above and beyond; my mom was well taken care of and our family felt positive. My only serious concern: I encountered a bully nurse and management swept complaints under the rug, which needs to be addressed. Overall I'd recommend this place for seniors, provided leadership takes resident/staff issues seriously.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment: The reviews for Sheridan Green House Living are overwhelmingly positive, with repeated praise for the facility’s home-like atmosphere, high-quality finishes, and caring staff. Most reviewers describe the community as "first class," gorgeous, and well-built, repeatedly noting that it feels non-institutional and more like a cottage or home than a traditional facility. The dominant tone is that residents are safe, well cared for, and enjoy individualized attention from a staff that appears genuinely engaged and fulfilled by their caregiving work.

Facilities and environment: Multiple reviews highlight physical features that contribute to a homelike experience: a central living area with a big dining table, an open kitchen, higher-end decorations, and communal entertainment features such as a big TV, piano, and board games. Outdoor amenities include a deck and safe walking or wheeling areas, and reviewers emphasize the beautiful location. The Green House model and cottage-style living are explicitly referenced and tied to the non-institutional feel. Safety measures such as wander-control are mentioned as positives, reinforcing family confidence that residents are physically secure.

Care quality and staff: Care and staff performance are the most consistently praised aspects. Reviews describe staff as caring, individualized in their approach, and often going "above and beyond." Several comments frame caregiving as meaningful work for staff, noting their positive attitudes toward elders and the joy they derive from helping residents. Family members report that relatives were "safe and well taken care of," and specific praise includes personal services like nail manicures. The overall narrative is that staff presence, interaction, and personalized attention create a strong, positive experience for both residents and their families.

Activities and social life: The community appears to offer a variety of social and recreational options that support engagement and quality of life. Mentioned amenities—piano, board games, a big TV, communal meals at a large table, and manicures—suggest a mix of social, recreational, and personal-care activities. These features reinforce the cottage-style, family-like atmosphere and support day-to-day wellbeing and social connection among residents.

Management and concerns: While the majority of feedback is positive, there is a notable negative pattern in at least one review: an allegation of a "bully nurse" and a claim that management did not take the complaint seriously, with complaints being "swept under the rug." This is a serious concern because it contrasts sharply with the otherwise consistent praise for staff and care. Although this negative report appears isolated in the supplied summaries, it is significant because it touches on staff behavior and leadership responsiveness—areas that directly affect resident safety and family trust.

Overall assessment and patterns: The prevailing pattern across reviews is strong approval of Sheridan Green House Living’s environment, staff, and model of care—residents and families repeatedly describe the place as caring, beautiful, and safe, with staff who provide individualized attention. Amenities and design elements support a non-institutional, cottage-style living experience. The primary negative pattern is limited to a complaint regarding a staff member’s bullying behavior and an alleged inadequate management response; while this appears to be an outlier among predominantly positive reports, it is a distinct and important concern that families and prospective residents would likely want clarity on. In summary, reviews present Sheridan Green House Living as a highly regarded, first-class community with excellent staff and facilities, tempered by one reported issue about staff conduct and management handling that warrants attention.

    About Sheridan Green House Living

Sheridan Green House Living sits in Sheridan County, Wyoming, and folks will notice it doesn't look or feel like a big nursing home, because it's made up of four smaller Green House cottages where each person gets a private room and a private bathroom, so they can hang their own photos and make the space feel like home, and you'll see big gathering rooms where people can spend time together, maybe playing cards, watching a movie, or just talking, and each cottage even has a salon and a whirlpool tub right there for comfort and beauty needs, which folks like so they don't have to go far for a haircut or a soak. Meals come from a real kitchen, and the chef prepares food that fits special diets, like for people who can't have gluten or need diabetes-friendly options, and snacks are always available, so nobody goes hungry. Laundry gets done for everyone, and housekeeping keeps things clean, even offering dry cleaning, and there's cable in each room, so folks can keep watching their shows, with all kinds of activities set up to help people keep busy, from arts and movie nights to gardening and walking paths outside the cottages where you can get some sun and move a bit.

Sheridan Green House Living stands as the first community in the nation to open Green House homes through local support, backed by a nonprofit called Alternative Elder Living, Inc. (AEL), and this setup means community folks got together to make sure it exists, so it really grew out of citizen care. The place takes Medicaid and Medicare, and the fees can change depending on insurance, so new residents can sit down with staff during admission to talk about what fits. The heart of the place is a belief in treating everyone with respect, letting elders and staff build meaningful relationships, and focusing on making everyone feel like equal partners in everyday life. Someone's always around, with 24-hour supervision, and care staff help with medicine, bathing, dressing, and getting around, plus they coordinate with doctors and help with appointments, even arranging van rides to medical visits set up by Green House Living. Security gets a boost from emergency alert systems in all the rooms, and everything is wheelchair friendly, so nobody gets left behind.

Residents take part in weekly beauty and barber services in their own cottages, get help moving in, and can join in meals together in the dining area or find quiet if that's what they need. Activities fill the schedule, and there are garden spots, a central living room for games or hobbies, and outside walking paths for exercise or fresh air. This community makes a point of supporting connections between residents, families, staff, and even folks stopping by from town, so daily life feels active and full of friendship. It's part of a national movement in the Green House Project, and their goal stays clear: provide dignified long-term care in homes where everyone belongs, with comfort, safety, and meaning at the core. Services run Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm, and you can find more information or engage with them through social media links like Facebook and Instagram, since they believe in staying connected in whatever ways work best for residents and their loved ones. Physical therapy, occupational therapy, telephone, oxygen, or pharmacy services aren't included, but Medicaid can handle those if people need them, and medical supplies are provided right there. It's a place where being part of a caring group matters, with life kept as simple, safe, and familiar as possible for everyone who calls it home.
