    Caring small home with improvements

I placed my mom in this small, very clean, home-like facility run by a caring husband-and-wife team and a responsive nurse-owner. The staff are attentive and helpful with meds and doctor appointments, the home-cooked food and quiet, friendly residents made it the right fit, and my mom showed real improvement over a year - price was fair. I highly recommend it.

About Rancho San Diego Board and Care I

Rancho San Diego Board and Care I sits in a pleasant neighborhood, and you can always see how clean and orderly things are kept thanks to regular housekeeping and a staff that pays attention to the details, which is nice because the community only has six residents, so everyone gets noticed. The place has cozy, fully furnished living spaces and a homelike feel, and what sets it apart a bit is the garden and outdoor spaces where folks can walk or just sit in peace. There's a dining room where the culinary team serves up three daily home-cooked meals, and if someone needs a special diet for diabetes or high blood pressure, they can manage that. Residents can pick from studio, one-bedroom, private, or semi-private apartments, all of which are included with cable, private phones, and Wi-Fi, and they welcome dogs and cats, so if someone's got a pet they want to keep, that's alright.

The care team includes caregivers and even a nurse who goes the extra mile to help, and they offer personalized support with things like bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and transfers, including using a Hoyer lift or even two-person assistance if needed, plus help with medication-everything from reminders to actual dosage adjustment and blood sugar monitoring. Memory care is a big focus here, and the building's designed to keep folks with Alzheimer's or dementia safe, with secured doors and technology like bracelets that sound an alarm if someone tries to wander off, which is especially important because they can support those with major behavioral issues. Feelings of routine and activity matter here, so they have scheduled daily programs, fitness and music activities, movies, art, games, community events, evening gatherings, a book room, a sauna, a jacuzzi, a hair salon, transportation for appointments, and even pet therapy.

Transition's made a bit easier since they help with move-in coordination, so new residents don't feel too out of place, and when it comes to health needs, they support diabetic and incontinence care, can help with total transfers, will do the standby or the full hands-on lift, and even arrange hospice care if the time comes. They can monitor blood sugar and help with insulin routines but don't actually give insulin shots. Their services allow residents to age in place, meaning as needs grow, they don't have to go find another place. The staff puts dignity and safety first, so families can feel confident, and for entertainment, there are music and wellness programs, tabletop games, outside relaxation, and a traveling barber or stylist for haircuts or grooming. Parking and transportation for shopping, doctors, and spiritual services are available, so folks can stay connected to what matters. It's a small, friendly place where everyone can feel like part of a home, and that bit about keeping things tidy and helping with daily activities-from the bath to the meals and everything in between-really makes it dependable for seniors who need a little extra help day by day.
