      Decline in cleanliness and care

I had an excellent first impression and was impressed by the staff-Evelyn was wonderful. Under the previous owner it felt spotless, bright and home-like with attentive caregivers and home-cooked meals, and I was confident choosing it for my mother-in-law. On my recent visit the facility seemed declined: smells (including marijuana), not as clean, staff inattentive, meals were cold/basic (cereal/sandwiches), and I had safety concerns. With limited time to observe, I can't recommend bringing my mom here under current management; seek a super-clean, professional, caring place.

      Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews is mixed but leans positive with important and recurring concerns. A majority of reviewers emphasize exceptional cleanliness, a bright and well-kept environment, and caring, attentive staff. Multiple visitors reported a strong first impression, confidence in their placement decisions, and specific praise for staff members (for example, Evelyn). Several reviews describe the facility as professional, home-like, reasonably priced, and welcoming — with hardwood floors, no carpeting, and spotless common areas contributing to a favorable impression.

Care quality and staff behavior are described inconsistently across reviews. Many visitors highlight patient, attentive caregivers and good communication about resident issues; staff are described as available to talk and supportive, which reassures families. However, a subset of reviews reports insufficient attentiveness, lack of follow-up after visits, and in one account the person in charge was not an official employee. This inconsistency suggests variability in staff performance or shift-to-shift differences. The presence of specific praised staff members indicates there are reliable caregivers, but the negative accounts point to lapses that families should clarify during visits.

Facility and cleanliness are strong themes with majority praise: "extremely clean," "spotless," and "super clean" appear repeatedly, and many reviewers felt comfortable visiting anytime and found the environment bright and cheerful. Contrasting this, some reviewers — notably referring to a change in ownership — reported a decline in cleanliness, unpleasant odors, and an overall dirty appearance compared with the previous owner’s standards. These contradictory reports could indicate recent changes, uneven maintenance across areas or shifts, or differing expectations among visitors. Prospective families should verify the current state in person and ask about housekeeping schedules and recent management changes.

Dining and food quality show a clear split. Several reviewers compliment meals made from scratch, while others report cold, minimal meals limited to cereal and sandwiches. This divergence may reflect different timeframes, meal service issues, staffing shortages, or variable kitchen oversight. Given the importance of nutrition in senior care, this is a key point for families to probe: ask for menus, sample meals if possible, and inquire how the facility handles special diets and meal delivery when kitchen staff are unavailable.

Management and safety concerns are the most serious recurring negatives. A handful of reviewers raised red flags about informal or questionable management practices (a non-employee or a boyfriend involved in management decisions) and reports of marijuana odor on-site. Some visitors also observed residents who appeared sad or one who seemed terrified, which led them to advise against placing a loved one there. These comments introduce potential liability and safety issues and should be investigated directly with the facility. Families should ask who is officially responsible for daily operations, whether all managers and caregivers are background-checked and employed by the facility, and what the policies are on drug use or behaviors on the premises.

In summary, Mighty Hearts Home Care receives numerous strong endorsements for cleanliness, warmth of environment, and several dependable caregivers, producing high satisfaction among multiple families. At the same time, there are alarming and specific negative reports around food quality, cleanliness under a reported new owner, informal management involvement, potential substance odor, and residents appearing distressed. These mixed signals suggest the facility may offer very good care under certain staff and times but also has inconsistencies that merit direct inquiry. Recommended next steps for families: conduct an unannounced visit during meal time, meet with the identified management staff, ask for recent inspection/health reports, request references from current families, and clarify staffing patterns and supervision to confirm the facility’s performance is consistent with the positive reviews.
