    Homey, attentive care; expensive ambulance

I found the place homey, very clean, with private rooms, lake views, homemade meals and the warmth and attentiveness of Elle and the caregivers. Palliative care was knowledgeable and conscientious, hospice was arranged and my loved one died in a peaceful, home‑like setting. That said, outrageous fees and an unnecessary 911 call that brought a non‑emergency ambulance and a questionable hospital transfer left me feeling betrayed and conflicted.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews is mixed but leans positive about day-to-day caregiving, facility quality, and the homelike atmosphere, with significant and recurring concerns centered on costs and the handling of a critical medical/ethical incident. Multiple reviewers praise the personal warmth and attentiveness of Elle and her staff, while a smaller but important subset of comments raises red flags about emergency protocols, transfers to hospital, and feelings of betrayal that followed a specific situation. Pros and cons cluster clearly around excellent daily care and environment versus worries about management decisions, transparency, and price.

Care quality and staff: Reviews consistently highlight attentive, conscientious caregivers who appear knowledgeable and responsive. Several remarks single out Elle by name for warmth and personal attention, and multiple reviewers note that staff are caring, familiar, and willing to accommodate residents' needs. The facility is described as providing good caregiving and palliative-style support; reviewers specifically mention hospice or hospice-ready care and the capacity to support end-of-life comfort so that a resident can 'die at home-like setting.' These points suggest strong capabilities and commitment for both routine assistance and sensitive end-of-life care.

Facilities and setting: The physical environment receives strong positive mentions. The home is described as very clean, with private bedrooms and a peaceful setting that includes a lake view and a deck. The descriptors 'homey' and 'peaceful' recur, indicating the place feels less institutional and more like a comfortable residence. Cleanliness and private rooms are emphasized, which are important tangible markers for families comparing options.

Dining and personalization: Dining is repeatedly noted as a strength; meals are described as homemade from scratch, with staff responsive to special requests. This points to a level of personalization and culinary care that many families value in smaller, home-based senior care settings. The responsiveness to dietary needs and special requests is a concrete operational plus.

Emergency, transitions, and end-of-life issues: Despite strong everyday marks, several reviews flag a serious concern about how emergency situations and transfers were handled. Mentions of a 911 call, the use of a non-emergency ambulance, and explicit 'ethical concerns about transfer to hospital' indicate that at least one incident left family members feeling betrayed or conflicted. The term 'feelings of betrayal' and 'mixed emotions' imply that actions taken during a crisis conflicted with expectations, advance wishes, or previously communicated plans about hospital transfer and end-of-life care. While the facility appears capable of providing palliative or hospice-style care, these reviews suggest a breakdown in either policy, communication, consent, or judgement in at least one critical event. That pattern elevates the concern beyond a one-off complaint because it touches on ethics, informed consent, and honoring resident/family wishes.

Costs and management/communication concerns: Multiple reviewers call out 'outrageous fees,' indicating pricing is a notable pain point. Combined with the ethical and emergency-handling concerns, this raises questions about transparency of policies, clarity in agreements, and how the facility communicates charges and protocols to families. The juxtaposition of high satisfaction with staff and environment against serious dissatisfaction about cost and a major incident suggests that while day-to-day operations are strong, higher-level management, contractual clarity, or crisis policies may need improvement.

Overall assessment and guidance: Elle's Senior Care appears to offer a warm, clean, small-home environment with strong, attentive caregivers, homemade food, private rooms, and a peaceful lakeside location—attributes that will suit families seeking a homelike, personalized setting and those needing palliative or hospice-friendly care. However, prospective residents and families should probe carefully around emergency protocols, advance directives, and explicit policies for hospital transfer to ensure alignment with preferences. They should also request clear fee schedules and written explanations of charges and services to address concerns about pricing. Clarifying communication channels and decision-making authority in crises (who calls 911, under what circumstances transfers occur, who authorizes transport) would be particularly prudent before committing. In sum, the facility's everyday strengths are clear and meaningful, but important governance and cost issues surfaced by reviewers merit careful questioning and documented assurances prior to placement.

    About Elle's Senior Care

Elle's Senior Care sits above Lake Washington in a quiet residential neighborhood at Sandy Point, and you'll notice how the second floor looks out over the water and the large deck stretches out so residents can enjoy fresh air and big views of the lake and garden, which are really bright and full during summer months. The house has six private bedrooms and four bathrooms, with big shared living and dining spaces, and caregivers are there all day and night-there's always a registered nurse and certified staff on hand, so help is available anytime, and residents can get support with medicine, health checks, and daily needs. The home feels safe, since every room has a central security system and the windows and doors are secured, which matters for folks who wander or get confused, and every room also comes with a phone and cable TV, so people have privacy but can keep in touch with family and enjoy their favorite shows.

You'll find all meals made from scratch in the kitchen, with menus that can be changed if someone needs something special or wants food prepared a certain way, and laundry and cleaning get taken care of, too, so you don't have to worry about chores. The home lets residents bring small pets, and offers parking for visitors, with visiting hours from 9 in the morning until 8 at night, letting family stop by often. Staff are trained in dementia and mental health care, and the place is set up to help residents age in place, meaning they don't have to move if their care needs change, since nurses, a doctor on call, dentist, podiatrist, and hospice services are available as needed.

Devotional services, on-site and off-site activities, and an activity director are all part of daily life, so seniors get chances to be social, join clubs, and try things like art, crafts, reading, watching TV, knitting, cards, stretching and yoga classes, music, and movie nights-there's always something on the schedule, even if someone prefers a quiet day. The staff are warm, friendly, and look after each person's needs gently, giving attention to residents who might feel nervous, forget things, or like to have the same helper every day, and there's also hair, nail, and facial care so everyone can feel good and look tidy. The place feels much like a home, clean and busy with different sounds and smells from cooking and gatherings in the dining area, and little touches to help everyone feel respected, safe, comfortable, and valued as an individual, whether they need memory care, assisted living, mental health support, or end-of-life care.
