    Compassionate care, pricey, smooth transition

An appointment was cancelled by the owner and I was surprised they require two years of private pay before accepting Medicaid. Despite that, I'm delighted with the smooth transition - the house is a beautiful, jewel-like, very clean home and the residents are happy and relaxed. The main caregiver and staff are warm, kind, caring and exemplary; an RN is on duty eight hours a day, seven days a week, and they provided all needed care. It's pricey, and I did need to contact Kaiser/KP Care about coverage, but I feel fortunate for the compassion and respect shown.

The place's got private rooms, some with full-size, wheelchair accessible bathtubs, and you'll see both indoor and outdoor spaces for socializing or just enjoying a bit of quiet. There's a homey feel all through, with caregivers and nurses on duty, and Sofia, the RN, is there eight hours a day, every day, making sure folks are well looked after, which many families really appreciate. People can keep a cat in their room if that's something they like for companionship, and there's free parking for those who still drive or if people come to visit during the listed 9:00am to 8:00pm hours. Transportation's offered for errands or appointments, with a little fee for certain trips, and onsite you'll see things like beauty and barber services, stretching and art classes, devotional services both inside and outside the home, and social activities meant to help people stay active and engaged, including programs for those with memory loss like brain fitness activities. Shared sitting areas give people a chance to chat or just relax with company, and the staff work hard to create a warm, friendly place where residents and their families can feel a sense of belonging, and always have someone to turn to with questions or needs. The staff's known for modern methods and professional care, but nobody forgets the simple kindness and attention that make each person feel safe and comfortable, with small touches like private bathrooms, wheelchair accessible showers, and activities designed to support each person, whether they need just a bit of help or much more care.
