I'm very happy with the Inn - a small, home-like community with kind, professional staff who provide individualized care, prompt hospital transport, delicious meals in an elegant dining room, and vibrant activities (live music, reading club, outings) personalized by Barbara. The spacious common areas, beautifully manicured grounds, safe central location near my daughter, and welcoming residents make it feel like family; I highly recommend it.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews for The Inn — part of Waveny LifeCare Network — is strongly positive. Reviewers repeatedly highlight the staff, the social life, the dining, and the grounds. Many comments convey a sense of satisfaction and warmth: residents and family members describe the community as welcoming, respectful, and filled with a “community of love and respect.” Multiple reviews explicitly state they would recommend the Inn to other families and note that residents (including described family members) are happy there.

Care and staff quality are among the most frequently praised aspects. Reviews use terms like “amazing staff,” “kind and professional staff,” and “excellent care.” Families noted individualized attention attributable to the facility’s smaller size and staff attentiveness; one reviewer specifically praised prompt hospital transport and responsive medical care. Activity staff receive consistent positive mention — including personal attention from a staff member named Barbara — for personalizing activities and actively including residents. The overall picture is of a facility where caregivers are both clinically competent and personally engaged with residents.

Life and programming at the Inn are described as lively and varied. The community is repeatedly called “vibrant and active,” with regular offerings such as a weekly reading club, musical and artistic performances, games, outings, and live music programs that sometimes involve local school children and other musical groups. Reviewers emphasize that activities are resident-centered and well-staffed, contributing to a social, engaged atmosphere that many residents and families clearly appreciate.

Facilities and amenities earn strong approval as well. Reviewers mention delicious meals served in an elegant dining room, spacious and welcoming common areas, and charming, cozy resident rooms. The campus and landscaping receive praise — “beautifully manicured” and “scenic grounds” — and the location is noted as a significant benefit, with multiple comments about the Inn’s convenient central location near New Canaan center and easy access for family members. Safety and security are also noted positively, reinforcing the sense of a comfortable, home-like environment.

The most consistent limitations noted in the summaries relate to the Inn’s smaller scale. Several reviewers describe it as a “small facility” or note “small bedrooms.” The small, family-like atmosphere is framed positively by many reviewers but could be a downside for prospective residents who prefer larger, more institutional settings or greater privacy and space. Other than size-related points, reviewers reported no notable negative feedback — several explicitly stated there were no negatives or that they were “very happy” with the Inn.

In summary, the reviews portray The Inn as a small, well-run, and community-oriented independent living setting with strong staff engagement, quality care, excellent dining, and an active programming calendar that includes personalized activities. Its scenic grounds and central New Canaan location are additional strengths. The primary tradeoff appears to be scale: the facility’s intimacy and individualized attention come with smaller bedrooms and limited capacity, which may be a consideration depending on a prospective resident’s space and community-size preferences. For families and seniors seeking a warm, engaged, and professionally staffed small community, the Inn receives consistent and enthusiastic endorsements.

About The Inn - Part of Waveny LifeCare Network

The Inn, part of Waveny LifeCare Network and located at 73 Oenoke Ridge in New Canaan, Connecticut, offers independent living with support for healthy seniors who want an active lifestyle but also appreciate a worry-free environment. The community has age-restricted residences like Studio and One Bedroom Suite apartments, all set in a smaller building with a family-like feel, which many find comforting. Residents enjoy three chef-prepared meals every day in a restaurant-style dining area or outdoors, and there's a coffee bar for something quick or social. The Waveny Culinary Experience focuses on nutritious foods, and there are always social meals, special events, and guest celebrations. Housekeeping and linen services come every week, and the staff, who are well-trained and friendly, stay ready to help-there's 24-hour security and emergency response systems to keep everyone safe. People bring their own cars, as parking is available, and there are transportation services for trips to local attractions, shopping, or medical appointments if driving isn't preferable.

The Inn fits those who like to stay busy because every month there's a full calendar of games, music, shows, classes like flower arranging or acting, and outings into the community. Activities are meant to keep everyone connected, whether it's through fitness classes, lectures, or multigenerational and cultural gatherings. People who enjoy gardening have access to beds and greenhouses, and there are arts and crafts rooms, places to walk, and cozy spots like fireplaces. The community is pet-friendly, but only for cats.

The Inn is part of the larger Waveny LifeCare Network, a nonprofit with over forty years' history in eldercare, and residents have priority access to the full range of care services. This means people can start off living independently but move to assisted living, skilled nursing, memory care, hospice, or even short-term rehab if their needs change. Short-term trial stays for three months help people decide if the community fits their style. The Waveny Care Center is recognized for skilled nursing and therapy, and there are programs that bring in visiting professionals for healthcare right on site, which helps with peace of mind. The community uses telemedicine too, making it easier to access doctors without leaving home.

Memory care at The Inn provides a secure, specialized environment for seniors with Alzheimer's or other dementia, including activities and support to help manage confusion and keep people from wandering. Assisted living services cover daily help like bathing, dressing, meal assistance, and making sure medications are taken right. There's always a focus on letting residents remain as independent as possible for as long as possible, and if more help is needed, there's a natural path to step up care within the same group of communities.

For some, the volunteer programs become a highlight-people come in to play music, host hobby projects, or even run errands for residents-and these efforts create a warm, helpful atmosphere. With 37 units and a strong sense of family, The Inn gets consistent high marks in community reviews and is recognized with awards like Best of Senior Living and the All-Star Award for resident satisfaction. The community offers scheduled tours and even virtual tours to help people decide if they want to make The Inn their new home. The rent covers almost everything, including meals, activities, security, and housekeeping, which makes life easier without a big buy-in or extra surprise costs. Residents and their families say the atmosphere here feels genuine, safe, and thoughtful, with plenty of ways to socialize, learn, and stay active, all while knowing that they're well cared for as their needs change.
