    Neglect, mishandling, unresponsive staff, death

I had a horrible experience here - staff and therapy were largely unresponsive and seemed money-driven. My loved one suffered neglect (failure to turn, bedsores, aspiration risk), feeding-tube and medication mishandling, ignored complaints and ultimately death; discharge communication was a disaster. While the facility has a pretty courtyard, friendly reception, some attentive caregivers and activities, many rooms were unsanitary, staff were often rude or absent, and COVID staffing shortages made care worse. Broken beds, urine/cigarette odors, unsafe practices and poor hygiene left me unwilling to recommend this place - it needs serious oversight; one star.

    About Sterling Place

Sterling Place offers a range of care options for seniors, so you'll find nursing services for those needing short- or long-term help, whether it's because of physical conditions or memory issues that call for round-the-clock support, and they've got memory care services especially designed for people dealing with Alzheimer's or other kinds of dementia, putting safety first with systems to lessen confusion and help prevent wandering, plus they've built in assisted living for folks who need help with day-to-day things like bathing, dressing, or remembering to take medicine, but are still able to live on their own much of the time. You'll also find home care here, where trained aides can come to a senior's home to provide companionship and basic non-medical help, and for those still active and independent, their independent living services make it easy to enjoy a hassle-free lifestyle with amenities and social opportunities.

Sterling Place has both private and shared living spaces, so seniors can choose what suits them best, and they've got neighborhood homes with live-in caregivers for those preferring that community feel. Meals are planned by dietary staff and made by chefs, focusing on nutrition and taste, with posted daily menus and a community dining room to encourage folks to come together at meal time, and they've got a hydration program to help everyone stay healthy. Residents take part in a variety of activities like games, arts and crafts, exercise classes, social outings, live music, and birthday and holiday celebrations, while those who need dementia care get specialized activities just for them, and there's a schedule of chaplain visits and spiritual activities if you want to join in.

Their approach centers on person-centered care and combines skilled nursing, rehabilitation, long-term support, Alzheimer's programs, and hospice services. Amenities include fitness centers, therapy services, entertainment lounges, and Wi-Fi and cable TV access, plus laundry and cleaning services to keep things comfortable and simple, and the staff arrange medical transportation when needed. Safety matters here, so there are security systems in place throughout the community. The environment feels home-like, made to be warm and comforting, and the aim is to support each person's physical, emotional, and spiritual needs with dignity, integrity, and compassion.
