    Beautiful caring affordable senior living

I live here and I'm very pleased - beautiful forest setting and landscaping, attractive and clean rooms/studio apartments, ample parking, and mobility-friendly design with wide halls/doors for scooters and wheelchairs. The staff are kind, caring and responsive; management is approachable; housekeeping, medication administration and free on-floor laundry (detergents provided) make daily life easy. Food is excellent (continental breakfast and dinner fantastic, supper a bit light), lots of activities (bingo, dancing, exercise, art, music), in-town rides and a helpful driver, and it's an affordable, well-organized, warm community.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews for Montello Heights is strongly positive, with recurrent praise for the facility’s setting, staff, social life, and affordability. Multiple reviewers highlight the property’s attractive forest setting and well-maintained landscaping, which combine with a pleasant interior and nicely set dining area to create a homelike and welcoming environment. Cleanliness is mentioned repeatedly, and small practical touches such as easy-to-clean rugs and ample parking add to the sense that the facility is thoughtfully arranged for resident comfort and convenience.

Staff and caregiving receive consistently high marks. Reviewers describe staff as friendly, kind, caring, and approachable; management is noted as responsive and positive in handling concerns. Specific operational strengths include responsive maintenance staff, a helpful driver for rides, and the availability of medication administration and caregiving support. These comments suggest reliable day-to-day care and a staff culture oriented toward resident wellbeing.

Facilities and accessibility are another strong theme. The building is described as well-kept and mobility-friendly, with wider hallways, doors, and entries that accommodate scooters and wheelchairs. Practical amenities noted across reviews include an on-site laundry with both monthly and weekly options (with detergents supplied), free laundry on each floor, library space, areas for visitors, and ample parking. Studio apartments are available and described as very nice; however, their smaller size is noted and is listed as a potential drawback for those needing more living space.

Dining and food service are viewed mostly positively but with a couple of caveats. Continental breakfast and dinner are praised—dinner in particular is described as "outstanding"—and there are fun extras like an ice cream shop open anytime. At the same time, a few reviewers mention that the evening meal (supper) can be light (for example, soup and a sandwich), and that only one meal is included in the base offering. For prospective residents who prioritize hearty evening meals or more inclusive meal plans, this is an important operational detail to verify.

Social programming and resident engagement are clear strengths. Reviewers consistently note a wide range of activities and events: bingo (noted as twice nightly), dancing, exercise classes, music and art classes, games, and other engaging social events. These offerings, together with warm resident interactions, contribute to a lively communal atmosphere and support quality of life for socially active residents.

Value and availability are also recurring positives. Montello Heights is described as affordable—often cited as a lower-priced option among local facilities—with openings available. The combination of reasonable cost, covered services (one meal, laundry options, medication administration), and robust programming make it appealing to budget-conscious families seeking a supportive, social environment for their loved ones.

Areas to clarify or investigate further include meal coverage and housekeeping scope. Several reviewers call out that only one meal is included in the base fees and that the supper can sometimes be light; potential residents should confirm meal plans, additional meal costs, and the typical dinner menu. Housekeeping is described as "light," which may mean less frequent or less comprehensive cleaning than some families expect; clarifying the frequency and extent of housekeeping services is advisable. Finally, while studio apartments are positively reviewed for quality, their size may be limiting for some, so prospective residents should review floor plans and consider whether the apartment layout meets their needs.

In summary, Montello Heights presents as a clean, well-maintained, and affordable senior living option with strong staff responsiveness, a warm community, excellent programming, and useful amenities that support mobility and independence. The chief practical concerns to confirm during a visit are the details of meal coverage and the scope/frequency of housekeeping, and whether apartment sizes suit the resident’s needs. Overall, the reviews suggest a facility that prioritizes resident comfort, social engagement, and attentive service at a competitive price point.
